Met some friends nearby and dived in for afternoon teas because it was closest. Only had teas and coffees etc. But at £3.95 for tea or coffee, it was rather expensive for something that quality-wise was average at best. Had to go back to the bar twice, once to get the right number of cups and next to ask for some children's water that never arrived.

Nice toilets.

I am sorry you didn’t rate our coffee lounge for a quick stop, our lounge is always very busy and many find it is an ideal meeting place with its close proximity to the junctions of the M1 and A38

Pleased you thought the toilets were nice

Kind Regards

Good value accommodation in extremely well appointed rooms with comfortable beds and good lighting plus a well fitted and perfectly clean bathroom. Breakfast a bit of a let down but acceptable (lots of self service and limited rather unimaginative choice). Very attentive and helpful staff and really surprising vlaue.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of a corridor are quietest!

The housekeeping Team will be most pleased with your positive comments regarding the accommodation, some say our bedrooms are a little dated but they are well equipped and always cleaned to a high standard.

I am sorry the breakfast was a bit of a let down we usually receive lots of comments how wonderful both the hot and cold choices are.

It was good to hear the staff were attentive and helpful, and your stay was really good value, I do hope you visit us again in the near future and I am positive you will receive the breakfast offering we are renown for.

Kind Regards

Thank you for taking the time to write your review of our hotel

It was great to read your positive comments, from the friendly welcome, nice rooms and everything there you needed. what else could one want to hear from our guests.

I am only sorry you thought our bar prices were a little high, we do complete regular competitor analysis with other hotels in the area and they are the same or similar prices to them

I am pleased to read you would definitely use the hotel again, I do hope you will visit us in the very near future

I stayed here for one night (Saturday) with my husband just for a night away with dinner. We paid £95.00 for this which in my opinion was over priced. The hotel is classed as a four star but from what we saw of it i would not class it as a four star, if you take away the pool and fitness centre the hotel would be at best a two star. We booked a twin room which we got, it was ok but not what you would expect from a four star hotel. We were just relaxing when my husband pulled the cord at the side of the bed which we both assumed was the light pull, no light came on but 20 seconds later a man came bursting into the room asking if everything was ok. I was absoloutly terrified until he explained that the alarm cord had been pulled, seems we had been given a disabled room with alarm cords in the bedroom and bathroom. We were not happy about this so asked to change rooms, we were given another twin room just doors away so why we had been given the disabled room i do not know!! The evening meal was not up to four star quality, i had prawn cocktail which was a bowl full of chopped lettuce with about 6 prawns on the top and some sauce, main course was smoked poached haddock which was overcooked and dry and full of bones the sauce on it was too over powering, desert was nice but not much of it. If the meal had not been included in the package i would certainly not have paid for it as it would of been around £50.00 for us both. The pub just across the road does food which is reasonably priced. My husband ordered a newspaper for Sunday morning which never arrived, the guy on reception said "that usually happens we get them all exept one" It just happened to be ours. We had breakfast which was nice and hot but did have to wait for the bacon and sausage to be filled up, the tomatoes still had not been filled up so i went without and again the ketchup bowl was empty and there was nobody around to ask so had it without. I was very dissapointed with the whole experience and especially as i was celebrating my birthday, we only booked this hotel as it was close to where we live and needed to be close to home as my mum had been ill, we thought it would be ok being a four star.

Room Tip: Dont ask for a twin, if youj do require a twin make sure its not a disabled room.

I am sorry you had a disappointing stay especially when you where celebrating your birthday, we are a four star hotel and have been recently graded this status by the AA again for the 30th year.

We do have a number of rooms adapted for guests with disabilities, the hotel must have been nearly full during your stay hence you being allocated one of these rooms, although they are not displeasing but do have alarms fitted. It was pleasing to hear my staff attended so promptly as our guests well being and welfare is of paramount importance to us.

The Chef will be saddened to read your remarks with regards to the food quality he only usually receives positive comments, the reason we have many local guests visiting the Tempus Restaurant

I do hope you change you mind and visit us again when we hope to show you the excellent quality and service we usually offer.

Kind Regards

My friend and I had a weekend break at The Derbyshire Hotel at the end of September. Our offer included breakfast and evening meal and we had picked the hotel because of its location nearby many places such as Chatsworth House, Denby Potter, Designer Outlet and Matlock. On arrival the girl on reception was lovely and welcoming, helpful without being patronizing. The hotel had a lovely entrance reception and was exceptionally clean in all areas. The room was a really good size with a nice flat screen tv and the usual hairdryer, iron etc. The bed was really comfortable and the room temperature not too hot, as is quite often the case in hotels. The bathroom facilities were great and again lovely and clean. We enjoyed a nice drink in the bar before our evening meal and the bar staff were again friendly and welcoming, the bar was very full so obviously a popular place. The food in the restaurant was lovely, good quality with a nice choice, you didn't get loads but we found it just right without being overfacing. The next day we tried the pool, steam and sauna rooms - the pool wasn't massive but it was big enough for the number of guests the time we were there and all was thoroughly enjoyable. The breakfasts were really good, all the usual items with some nice extras, all excellent quality. I can't fault the service, cleanliness or facilities in this hotel and would definately recommend and re visit.
