my wife and I went to Gangtok for four nights from 29th march to 1st april. While we were planning to visit all the worthwhile tourist spots in Gangtok, the highlight was always going to be the trip to Tsomgo Lake and the nathula pass. you need to go one day in advance to enable your travel agent to obtain a Pass. The entry to nathula had been barred. but we were permitted to go up to Tsomgo. it is a surreally ethereal place and a must visit. it is about an hour and half from Gangtok. A shimmering lake nestling amidst snow clad mountains beckons you. we were lucky that there was unseasonal cold and snow fall when we went. A ride on the Yak got us to the bank of the lake and we actually dipped into the lake. then a ride up the ropeway gets you to the highest point there where you see snow all around. we had a strong snowfall when we were there and it added to the splendor of the place. it is nature in the raw and in all its pristine beauty. just make sure you are carrying enough wollen clothing. never mind if you don't, as you can hire them when you go up from the many shops that dot the road. make sure you carry identity docs on you, as it is amust for Nathula, and can also be sought at Tsomgo lake sometimes. Super Trip
