this place is awesome to visit and it shows how syriacs are not kurd or arabs and they have their own culture and heritage l.

This museum is all about relatively modern Kurdish culture. The best parts are the regioanl costumes. All the other items are pretty ordinary and not of great interest. There was not much signage or information to read in English. Given it was rather hard to find too, out in the Ankawa suburb and therefore requiring a taxi ride to and from it, it was a bit underwhelming and I had expected more history and historic artefacts. Also, it seems to shut most afternoons (as well as Fridays and Saturdays) so get there before 11.30am in a morning. (If you only had time for one museum in Erbil to visit, I'd recommend the Erbil Civilization Museum over this one)

This museum is fascinating. It tells the stories of the Christian people of Iraq. There is a great clay model of the old village of Ankawa.

Did you know Ankawa has been a Christian village for 2,000 years? There is an archaeological site right across the street.

My kids really liked the displays. The staff is helpful and sweet. They even dressed my kids up in the historical clothing! We took lots of pictures. So fun!

They are open week-day mornings.

Very instructing and informative. The model of the original town as it was in 1950 together with the artifacts exhibited gives you a great idea of what life was like. The director of the museum toured me throughout the whole museum. I recommend it!!
