We visited Wet N Wild on a slightly cloudy but mostly sunny Sunday. The entry fee is usually $53 for an adult day pass. As we are QLD residents and live only 20minutes away we decided to get a 3 park pass (Sea World, Movie World and Wet n Wild) that would last us till July for $79. Well worth it. We had to wait around 30minutes for most rides but knowing we could come back any day made us not feel so ripped off.

There were about 20 of us so we reserved 2 cabanas for $70 each near Calypso Bay. They have 2 x sun lounges 2 x seats and a table each. For this day it was well worth it. But after a while we figured we could have got a table anywhere nearby if we got in early and stacked our claim. But knowing it was there was great worth the money split between all of us for the day.

Near the entry is a surf shop and you can get a wrist band that can be credited with money. This is great. You can use it for the lockers ($9) for the day and at any of the food vendors. You are supposed to be able to scan it at rides to have your photo on the ride ready for you at the end of the day. However this is not working. If you want a pic of a ride you have to go through the days other riders to find yourself.

Food- you can purchase food with the wrist band or other payment methods all day in the food area. They have a pizza place, hamburgers, fish and chips, hotdogs, coffee shop, ice cream, frozen coke stand, and more. The food is at theme park prices. We paid $36 for 2 hand burgers (very good tasty) with chips and large drinks (if you get the large cup can re-fill for $3). However paying that much we did not expect to wait in line for 35min to be served. NOT HAPPY. Get it together wet’n’wild.

You can choose to bring a esky with food/drinks and cook at one of the BBQ’s if you have coins and willing to wait your turn. Our friends did this and got their food ready quicker then we got ours. Word of warning your esky, bag and prams will be searched for security for alcohol and glass. Our friends had ginger beer in glass and had to pour it into a thermoses.

We did not get on all the rides but the ones we did we can comment;
Black hole – hot water and steam dark ok not great
Kamikaze – scary and extreme zero gravity so fun
Aqua Loop – if your not the right weight, not wearing a shirt (they give you one), move wrong or something you WILL GET STUCK. 1 out of 4 riders did on our day. They close the tube pull you out. Must be a design problem.

Calypso Bay – relaxing can get crowded. Great way to finish the day. Kids seemed to enjoy

Tornado – GREAT we went 2 times I would do again and again.

River rapids – OLD smells like a toilet waited never got to go

At about 2pm on the day after waiting 30minutes to get on a ride a storm came over and they closed all water activities for a duration of 30minutes for safety reasons. Good and bad for us. Bad cause we had been waiting but good as we got to re-group, fuel up and all the other people left. When rides re-opened half the park goers had gone. Rides wait 10-15minutes.

Word of warning the concert you walk on bare foot all day gets HOT. Your feet may get burnt (as ours did underneath) you can’t wear thongs on the rides and unless you want to leave them at the bottom of each area bare foot it is. We did see some people we realised must be season ticket holders wearing socks. It’s an idea.

We visited the park in January and spent the whole day queing! we qued for the bus then we qued to get into the park even though we had tickets, we qued for lockers and our 1st ride we qued for 1 1/2 hours infact we managed 4 rides in 6 hours in the sun, we didnt stop for dinner!

Some of rides were closed even thought We could see no maintenance going on. If all the rides were open then this would of easied the quees. However all the pay extra rides were open!!!!!!
We were told the buses to the park start at 9am and run throught out the day! The park was open till 7pm! We left the park at 6pm to get the bus back to Surfers paradise, at the bus stop there were about 300 people waiting also! Only to find that the last bus for surfers is at 5.15pm 2 hours before the park closes! There were families with young children stranded in the middle of nowhere! Taxis and Maxitaxis were vere few and far between, People were phoneing the bus company and the park asking for help only to be told they would record there complant. This did not help our situation. we eventually got home at 8.30pm and there were a lot of people still there when we eventually got a taxi.

WATER WORLD is great that you provide buses to your park but please provide them so we can get home from a days queeing (the buses are not free)

Thank Brian E
