We’ve taken a little break down the Gold Coast after experiencing an unusually long, cold winter in Brisbane. We arrived on EKKA Show day ( a public holiday in Brisbane ) and hadn’t had a chance to buy groceries for our 4 day long weekend so Hubby googled restaurants nearby and discovered Nero. He’s now a Hero for finding Nero.
A mere 15 minutes walk from our townhouse.
Being midweek there were only 8 other patrons in this restaurant, giving the manager/owner time to mingle and inform us all of the background of the wines we were enjoying on our wine matched meals.
OH MY GOODNESS!!!
What A treat!! And so unexpected. Brissie needs to pull her socks up to match the finesse and passion of the Gold Coast foodies running top restaurants down there.
We picked the first Taste menu ( $50pp) with the matching wine menu ($40pp) and YES! We we were not disappointed!
We were also very glad to being staying so close to Nero that we could walk home.
Five glasses of Australian Boutique wines were matched impeccably with the most amazing taste share dishes.
I am not a Kale fan, but, I must say the Kale in Tempura Batter, was my favourite. With the burnt butter coming in at a close tie.
Do it, if you are visiting Broadbeach.
You will not regret it. There are other set menu options at a higher price and I’d love to try them and of course you can just order from the set menu. I can’t wait to try one of the desserts, or maybe all of them, at some other time.
This restaurant was such a delightful surprise.
