Rooms at this hotel are in rustic lodges set on the (steep) hill that leads down to the beach. It's not luxurious but I had none of the problems that some other reviewers have reported. My room was on two levels with a second bed upstairs in a loft area. The bathroom was rustic, but clean. There's no hot water, and the cold shower was a shock to the system first thing, though pleasant enough after a hot day out. Bug screens on the windows were effective and although the mosquito net over the bed didn't quite meet at the edges I wasn't bothered by insects in my room. I did have my own battery-operated mosquito zapper, however.
At the reception level there's a small swimming pool and seating with great views over the sea and of the sunrise. This was the only area I found wifi reception, though it worked well there.
Breakfast is available, and was good although service is a bit slow. The staff were very pleasant indeed.
It's quite a long walk to the village of Mazunte, and a steep climb up an unlit road back, but taxis are plentiful and cheap. The beach is accessible by the same road, or via the steps through the hotel, and a smallish area is suitable for swimming though the waves are still quite large. There are a number of bars/restaurants on or near the beach.More
