We booked the Barnsdale Hotel as a final treat to ourselves after such a turbulent year. We choose this location for its amenities and beautiful surroundings as we wanted to escape from technology completely and recharge.

The Covid-19 procedures were excellent and thorough without being excessive and intrusive.

We upgraded our room to have a view of the lakes which was just wonderful to wake up too each morning. The room was beautiful, thoroughly cleaned and well stocked. We called housekeeping to ask for additional milk and extra supplies arrived safely within minutes- Nothing was too much trouble.

Due to current circumstances, we were not able to use all the facilities but we did manage to book a swimming session (I would book this upon arrival as slots were limited) and took several long walks along the water.

Apart from to exercise, we did not leave the hotel so ate in the restaurant each night and the food was of an excellent standard, reasonably priced and of a good portion size. Sadly there was a lack of ambience for December- understandably! but the subtle decorations and Christmas music and attentive staff made it still feel festive and enjoyable.

This is a real gem of a place & I feel due to the restrictions placed on the hotel that we barely scratched the surface of what this place has to offer. This can only mean we must revisit again once life returns to 'normal'.

Considering the circumstances and time of year, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return.

Thank you Barnsdale Hall Hotel- Continue the wonderful work, stay safe & we will see you again soon......

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to type a 5 star review of your experience and thank you for choosing to stay with us during December 20.

We are very blessed with our surroundings because not only do with have the beautiful scenery; there's plenty of space for people to walk around and be at one with Nature. It's basically good for both mental and physical wellbeing.

We have from the start of the pandemic taken it's threat very seriously and at every stage have done our best to ensure the upmost safety of our guests and our team. It can be a difficult balancing act but we feel that it's one we've achieved.

It seems that you made the right choice in upgrading your room as our Deluxe and Superior are our best one's and tend to each have a Balcony with a view of the beautiful Rutland Water. They are especially nice in the Spring and Summer. Our Housekeeping department has had some excellent feedback before on this forum as they have very high standards and work really hard to maintain them. Will pass your complimentary feedback onto them.

It's great to read that you very much enjoyed dining with us in the Restaurant. The Menu has something for everyone and the food quality is high without it being overly expensive. Will let the Chef know about your positive remarks.

Once more thank you again for your lovely comments and we hope to see you later on in 2021.

Best Regards,

Nicholas

We stayed one night in a honeymoon room, the room was so beautiful. The bed is quite firm, but too much for us but can’t be helped. The room had amazing views of Rutland water. Excellent value for money. The restaurant was excellent, fantastic service and the food was outstanding. We played a round of crazy golf and took a swim in the pool while we visited.

All in all a lovely little trip away for a night to destress after Christmas. Would love to come back again.

Thank you.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing to book into our Honeymoon Suite for one night and thank you for posting a 4 star review of your experience. We recently has the Mattress changed for that bed and the general feedback that we received so far has been positive. The great thing about where you stayed is that it is possible to see Rutland Water out of both windows.

Thank you for your positive feedback about your dining experience and will share that with the Kitchen and Restaurant Teams. Glad that you had the chance to use the facilities as there's quite a bit to do here whilst you stay. Hope to see you in 2021 and Happy New Year!

Warmest Regards,

Nicholas

We cancelled our family celebration and came here - a brilliant decision!! The staff made us feel at home throughout our three day stay, and although we were not with family, all the Christmas treats were there - crackers, decorations and a cheery Chrismas stocking full of chocolates, wine, scratch cards (we won £10!), bath bombs and candles. The entertainment - a magician one night and a very amusing race night the following day was spot on. The food was excellent, especially the halibut on Christmas Eve and the turkey Christmas lunch. Our superiour room was all it promised - space, beautiful view and large bathroom. There was no fridge but we stored our cold drinks on the balcony No room service, of course, but so easy to keep tidy. I loved the swimming pool although, because of the virus, there was limited changing and no showers. . The restaurant and leisure centre were a short walk from our room. up a flight of steps, but you could drive round if this was difficult or the weather was inclement. Sadly there were very few guests, but the atmoshere was very festive and the hygiene was very reassuring - masks, sanitiser, one way systems and tapes sealing room door to ensure they were not entered. Room supplies were left outside and were so plentiful we cancelled further deliveries after the first day.. A big thank you to all the staff who are working in such uncetain times, but were cheerful and helpful throughout. We look forward to a return visit in happier times.

Dear Jane,

Thank you very much for choosing to spend your Christmas with us and thank you for leaving such a complimentary 5 star review of your 3 night stop.

We are glad to read that you very much enjoyed the stockings fillers and pleased that you managed to win some money on the scratch card. We put it as part of the Christmas package and it's a nice touch as not everywhere does that. We are delighted to read that your food was excellent and will share your comments with the Chef. It sounds like the entertainment did exactly as it suggests it should.

We were hoping to have a similar Festive period as in 2019 however unfortunately it wasn't to be in 2020 with the announcement a few days prior to Christmas bringing a wave of cancellations. We treat the threat of Covid very seriously and do all we can to ensure the safety of our guests and team members.

Thank you once more for your feedback and will pass it onto the team as they tried their best to make sure that anyone staying with us had the best possible Christmas. Hope to see you again in 2021 and Happy New Year!

Best Regards,

Nicholas

Stayed for one night with my husband For the sax and swing night
Everything was great apart from when we tried to order two coffees in the bar to be told we had to order food other wise we couldn’t have the coffees . When I challenged this because it’s only food required when ordering alcohol not coffee or soft drinks she told me no food no coffee .

Not impressed with this because it’s not a requirement and felt like a bit of a con

This was an afternoon visit as we live locally to the hotel complex

I have just taken 2 of my grandchildren to a festive afternoon tea with Santa at Barnsdale Hall Hotel. We had a really lovely time. We played crazy golf (weather was kind), met Santa, recieved presents, met a crazy elf, had a posh afternoon tea, collected a bag of sweets and a bag of reindeer food for when Santa visits in the night.

The staff were kind and paid attention to detail. All covid compliant. We will come again next year!!!!
