After reading the previous review the week before we were due to go I was very apprehensive but I can assure you I needn't have been.
The house was wonderful yes they are working on the nearby property but it certainly didn't affect our stay. Alexandra couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable nothing was too much for her.
Our children loved exploring, playing hide and seek and listening to the lambs.
The only slight downside is in the downstairs bedroom there is nowhere to put clothes as we were only there for a weekend that didn't bother us but if going for a week I wouldn't like to have to live out of my suitcase.
We had the most wonderful time and will definitely be back.

Everything was there excepted small fridge. Lovely place.
Would defiantly recommend. Very suspicious and quite.
Advertised as two bedrooms - but we considered there were three bedrooms (one off the kitchen and great for those less able to do stairs). Spacious rooms and massive (original) stone stairs up to the bedrooms that used to lead up to the platform. Beds comfy, great outside gravel parking area for up to 4 cars, two good outside patio areas with chairs and tables and BBQ to use if hot. Enclosed private grassy garden. Plenty of hot water and warm. Kitchen good - well set out. Would recommend it - I would go back.

A lovely old station house that is spacious with some wonderful original features though it needs more railway memorabilia to show it at its full potential! Is surrounded by some wonderful countryside with regular fly bys by the local red kites. The community shop in Barrowden is very well stocked and is handy for buying bags of ice as there is no freezer at the station house. Local market towns of Oakham and Stamford are well worth a visit. Alexandra was lovely and very welcoming when we met her on our first night. On the whole it was an enjoyable stay but with a bit more thought given to welcoming visitors - no welcoming pack giving instructions etc., games/cards if the weather is bad and a bit of TLC to the building and it would be a definite 5* holiday.

Great. Very spacious, loads of character, bags of parking space, in beautiful countryside and a friendly owner. Imagine yourself in a villa in Tuscany!
