The perfect base to explore the Banks Bystrica region of Slovakia and beyond! Stayed a week in a two bedroom, two bath unit as part of a timeshare exchange. Couldn't have been lovelier. The layout is perfect -- each bed and bath separated by full kitchen, dining and living area. Cable and free wifi very adequate. Food was good but uninspired. Service impeccable. The region has a lot to offer and although Residence Donovaly is at the top of a mountain (it is a ski resort and snowing most of the time we were there in April), many inspiring Slovakian sights are 40 to 90 minutes away. Wonderful villages, beautiful medieval castles and churches. Definitely for the more ambitious and seasoned traveller., as is most of Slovakia. Was VERY lucky to have been at the resort during Easter. Although the resort was packed with families with small children the authentic Slovakian traditional presentations were amazing and will always be a special memory.

We found this hotel on line and with not much reviews or information about it we decided to give it a go and booked for a weekend trip in january 2017. The place - Donovaly - is beautiful and charming. The hotel it's nice but very overpriced: Definitely NOT the kind of service you would expect from a 4 STARS place. You'll be better off staying in another place for 50% the price.

Rooms: really good, very clean and comfortable but there's no thermostat! The hotel decides your room temperature, you can't change! Ah, and there's no room service.

Restaurant / Bar: We haven't had the chance to see it and try because there was a weeding on SATURDAY so they CLOSED the restaurant, bar and half of the BREAKFAST AREA for the ENTIRE WEEKEND so they could decorate the place for the party. Do you remember when I said that there's NO ROOM SERVICE?
All guests were squeezed in a very tiny room for breakfast and a massive queue was formed outside with those trying to get in - at 9AM.
The breakfast was very poor and there wasn't even a toaster. To have bread, you have to be there when the breakfast is served otherwise better go to the supermarket, buy your breakfast and eat it in your room. On top of that, every morning we had to ask then to refill the milk jars because was empty.

Parking space: is really small. Can take probably 25-30 cars - not at all compatible with the hotel size.
And there's more: because one of their main things is weeding events (as you can see on their website), you can imagine how pleasant is to arrive at your hotel on the evening and find out that the entire ground floor / hotel lobby is a big party and you no other thing to do than go to your room and watch TV.

Conclusion: if you wanna pay double and get 1/4 of what a 4 stars hotel is, this is the place fr you!

We have been there for a business conference and I have to say that I like the hotel.
It is pretty big but has a nice ambience.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and modern equipped.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Internet is complimentary.
The food is also very good.

I cannot judge on the wellness area, etc. just did not have time to use them.

BTW: do not forget to have a beer or two and some food a the brewery that is about 100m from the hotel.
We loved that place. You might even get a guided tour through the brewery.
