We had to kill a few hours in Fiumicino after a long car travel. Hungry, but are flying out of Fiumicino shortly after. We did not expect much, but a quick slice of pizza. But luck placed us at Via del Canale, just outside ristorante La Paranza. Delicious smell from a "Cucino Italiano" made us even more hungry. The ristorante was packed with local roman families and the kitchen was closing. We could not come back the next day, then we would be in Copenhagen, Denmark. In spite of the lack of time the nice people behind the desk, offered us a dish with calamares and shrimps. Our favorit meal. Having a "last minute" favorite dinner is dangerous - but what a meal we got. Calamares from the grill covered with huge shrimps and two whole langustinos. Patate, ensalada and a bottle of La Paranza white wine. Latte machiato and grappa to complete a heavenly meal. Thank you, La Paranza. We will never visit Fiumicino again - without having a meal in Via del Canale 50.

We wanted a good honest and not too expensive seafood restaurant for lunch before dropping off friends for their flight back to UK. we selected La Paranza from its TripAdvisor rating/reviews/and menu. We were not disappointed! Very friendly service. Generous portions and good ingredients. We shared two antipasti di mare between five of us. It was ample. Fried Calimaretti, octopus and potato salad, calimari salad, prawns cocktail, alici marinati, pickled zucchine, soute di cozze. We followed this with two spaghetti alle vongole, with the others shared a frittura della paranza (2 portions between 3) - good mixture of calimari, prawns, little hake, sole, red mullet, and pesci preti.

We drank a very pleasant Vermentino di Sardegna which at 10 euros a bottle was very reasonable and went very well with the fish.
