Just want to say I think the new Harbor reef looks great. we had lunch there twice during our week in nosara. they allowed my kid to play in pool, the staff was so nice, the food was better than ever. great portion size. and the music was some of the coolest soundtracks we have chilled to all week. great place to spend the week, night or just the day. thanks!

The hotel was very basic but it was spotlessly clean with beautiful grounds. The staff was incredible. From the front desk to Diego in the dining room to the housekeeper, everyone we encountered was incredibly helpful and pleasant all the time. Friendliest staff I think I've ever seen. Very close to the beach, felt very safe, security at the gate all the time but we never felt like it was needed. That's a good sign! We will return here without question. I was there with two children ages 12 and 14.

Room Tip: Rooms are basic but very clean.

We stopped in the the Harbor Reef for lunch with a large group. The drinks were great (pitchers) and I had the beetroot risotto which was incredible. I am serious, if you order just one thing, get that. I at with 18 friends and everyone said it was by far the most delicious thing we ordered. If this helps you remember the helpful button below.

We just got back from a stay at Harbor Reef. Wow!! What a wonderful surprise! The hotel has changed ownership, and it really shows. We had stayed at Harbor Reef before, and there is a huge difference as to how it is today vs our last time. The rooms got a real nice facelift and they feel fresh and clean. We can understand how some people might not like it because there are no TV’s in the rooms any longer, but honestly, we didn’t mind since they had great (and fast) wifi all over. Asides from the new look, the best part of our stay was service. The team went out of their way to make us feel at home. Mariana and Aldair were the best, they helped us out with everything we needed. One thing that has changed, is that you can no longer enjoy the pool at Surf City next door. But now on the positive side, they lend you bikes so you can have time exploring other places in town! The new restaurant is amazing! Not only the decor is simple, fun and colourful, but the food is delicious! Homemade breads, ceviches, and incredible drinks (by the way, there’s no pop anymore). Lemonades are awesome, and if you need to have your soda, just bring your own and store it in the room. By the way, the big fridge and kitchen are gone, but there is a mini bar instead with beer at a convenient price and the prices at the restaurant are very reasonable. And, there is a great a la carte breakfast included. Overall, we had a great time and will be back soon!

Cayuga S, Manager at Harbor Reef Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded 23 February 2017

Dear Sunshine,
thanks for taking the time to write this review. It is the first one we receive since we took over management. The last review posted in August mentioned the bug problems and the fact that the hotel looked run down. All changed now. We did a complete face lift and have installed proper barriers against bugs. Yes, the concept has changed a bit. We are happy to hear though, that you liked the changes and are already thinking about coming back. Thanks again and all the best.
