“Great local cafe”
Review of Black Radish - CLOSED

Black Radish
Price range: €5 - €12
Description: Black Radish was started as a 'labour of love' by Jayne & Beverley in 2014. We wanted to sell excellent quality organic fruit, vegetables, and artisan products including handmade breads in an attractive shop. We've tried to create a modern and stylish environment while paying homage to the Parisian cosy cafes we both love. The result we hope is a lovely looking shop that our customers feel comfortable in and like to be in. We have a small cafe side and provide light lunches, cakes (some gluten free) and a range of filled Ciabatta & Focaccia . Our 'claim to fame' however is our help yourself salad bar in summer & freshly made soup in winter. We use only our own ingredients and take great pride in the quality of the food we provide. Our ethos is to listen to our customers and sell the products you want, while also introducing new, different, and sometimes more unusual artisan products - we love nothing more than to share a recipe and talk with you about food!

Apart from the delicious and unusual sandwiches. I'm writing to say I just bought the nicest Olive Oil I've ever tasted in the UK from here. It was a bit pricey, but when you taste it, worth EVERY PENNY. Extra Virgin Olive Oil by The Gay Farmer. I poured it on my Moroccan muffin assemblage and it transformed it. Absolutely delicious. Get yours before I buy up their entire stock.

Hi Donna T. So glad you love The Gay Farmer olive oil. We're delighted to be able to stock it as we know its very special and the guy that makes it is fantastic too. Thank you so much for taking the time to review and so pleased you like the sandwiches too. Hope to see you soon. Bev & Jayne

I didn't know this place existed and I am so happy that I found it!
The menu isn't too overwhelming - thankfully, so it was very easy to make a choice. I had a help yourself salad box with a piece of salmon quiche, which was absolutely delicious - cooked to perfection very delicate flavours and the salmon wasn't dry!! The portion of quiche was quite substantial too. The salad box was incredible - vegan too!
I'll definitely be back for another visit. (Oh and I went for the take away option)

I love the soups and salads in here and I always buy something unusual to take home and cook - sicilian lemons, raspberry & chilli granola, interesting cheeses. This area of Hove has some great shops - Wick candle emporium, Ackerman Music, Lawrences Art Shop, Quaff Wine shop - I always come to Black Radish for lunch and fab coffee. One of my favourites.

What a lovely place.
An unexpected stop off as I had an hour to waste which did not disappoint.
Friendly service (even at the end of a long busy day)
Really nice options on menu to choose from that were a bit unusual.
Presentation was really nice and fresh.....and all topped off with a take away ice cream that I had at the park.
I will definitely go back
