For a family of four who wanted to relax, enjoy good food and an uncrowded beach, read their books in peace AND see the amazing creations of Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona, this worked well.
The house was immaculate and comfortable, with a variety of sleeping spaces (double, twin, bunk beds and single) as well as diverse sitting-out areas -- roof terrace, garden corner, front porch and barbecue area at the side -- so we could all gather or retreat as we wished.
The long, golden, sandy beach was just a few minutes away, as were a bakery, fish shop, well-stocked supermarket and a number of very good restaurants in this quiet but attractive residential area. And we soon got the hang of the easy train ride into central Barcelona with its stunning sights and dining opportunities.
Thank you to our hosts Virginia and Edward for making everything so nice, and for their helpful information pack.
The first photo to show on TripAdvisor doesn't do justice to this house - it's a perfect holiday rental, a few moments' walk from a golden sandy beach and only half an hour by train from the sights of central Barcelona. There are four different places to sit outside and enjoy either sunshine or shade in a private, walled yard planted with fruit trees and petunias. Beware of mosquitos round your ankles, though, if you're sensitive to bites. Behind the house is a barbecue with a big stack of wood. Inside, the kitchen is equipped with all the crockery and utensils you could wish for (except a kettle!) and a big fridge and freezer. The living/dining room has a large television and comfortable sofas. Our only frustration was that the WiFi is slow. Within five minutes' walk, there are two outstanding restaurants (Olave and Cheche), a small supermarket, a bakery, a delicatessen and a fishmonger. Another five minutes' walk takes you to the station where there are two trains an hour to and from Barcelona. All in all, this is a delightful house in an ideal location.
