We had an absolutely fantastic weeks stay at Princess Yaiza, the hotel itself was perfect. There was a range of pools and places to eat. Close to the beach and easy walk to marina. Suite had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing that wasn’t so great was the kids evening entertainment....’disco’ advertised every night actually not a disco but some over excited entertainers shouting / singing at children on a stage, hearts in the right places but a bit intimidating and we witnessed several children falling off the stage on different nights through all the commotion. Similarly the ‘princess Yaiza’ night was just all a bit too much, too loud and no real theme, our 4 and 6 year old found it overwhelming (as did we) and couldn’t follow what was going on, which is a shame as if they calmed it down it could be good! Other parents clearly felt the same, definite waste of money! The poor/ lack of entertainment didn’t affect our holiday personally and we had an awesome time without it, but may be worth considering if evening entertainment is important to you!

Enjoyed a week’s stay here and would most certainly recommend to anyone else looking for a suitable family friendly hotel.

Lots of activities for children available.

Nice pools, bars, shops, nail salon.

Great selection of restaurants to choose from. Would recommend the Japanese and suggest you book in advance.

Rooms were very spacious and immaculately clean.

No complaints whatsoever.

It’s rare to find high quality family-orientated hotels - this is a gem.
We visited with our two young boys (6 and 2) and they loved the kids pools near the family suites.
My only criticism is that none of the hotel restaurants/buffets start serving before 6.30pm which was a bit late for our boys and meant that we had to go out to eat for dinner on a few occasions when we would have preferred not to.

If there is a better hotel in Lanzarote then I would be surprised. The hotel is exquisite, the service impeccable, the facilities first class. Okay, not cheap, but worth the expense!
The rooms are very well appointed and roomy with all mod cons. The hotel restaurants are very good and there are a number of very good restaurants nearby.
The pools are spacious and well attended, whilst the local beach is less than 50 metres from the hotel premises and is lovely sand, safe swimming and never over crowded.
A great place to stay!

Room Tip: Upper floors have better views but all rooms are great quality

To sum up if you don’t have time to read on as I’ve rambled: this is a lovely hotel, the perfect resort if you don’t want to have to completely sacrifice luxury because you have kids. I’m not sure we would have loved it if we had gone as a couple as it is geared towards families, but if you don’t mind being surrounded by lots of generally well supervised and controlled children (who will be up past their usual bedtime and so they should be!) you may still enjoy it. We would go again and our three year old loved it, but we wouldn’t necessarily bother to book through Tots to Travel again. Five star in Spain is never the same as five star in the uk but with this hotel it’s hard to put your finger on why. We think it’s just because the place is so big that it’s hard to feel special - there is no personalisation. Some staff at dinner were excellent, others were quite distant or service just felt unnatural. Other than that it’s hard to fault this place.

The hotel is beautiful; no expense has been spared on the communal areas and there is plenty to explore. It’s also spotlessly clean and well maintained. Our one bedroom suite was spacious with a large bathroom. There are nice extras like bathrobes, flip flops, a turn down service and more clothes hangers than I’ve ever encountered in a hotel wardrobe. We never needed to turn on the air conditioning. The building just seemed to stay cool and the bedrooms face the internal corridors which keeps them cool and quiet. I can see how there is potential for noise as there are five storeys of tiled floors - we had people above and below us - but we were honestly never disturbed by any noise at any point.

We were on half board but upgraded to the deluxe package which allows you to eat in the a la carte restaurants and have a fully stocked mini bar. This was a good decision as the Italian restaurant Don Giovanni was one of our favourites with a lovely outdoor area to eat in (only one of the buffet restaurants, La Hacienda, has a terrace). I can’t say it’s necessarily value for money but we enjoyed having the choice and the unlimited supply of mineral water on the fridge was a bonus. Our three year old is typically fussy but managed to eat something each night.

La Hacienda was by far our favourite in terms of food - tacos, fajitas, kebabs and endless choices of accompaniments. The food was generally good everywhere though not outstanding. The tapas restaurant for example is fine but I’ve had tastier tapas in England.

The staff are polite and eager to please and especially good with children. The highlight of each day was the aqua gym in the main pool, especially when run by Andrea or Marco! I would recommend downing a cocktail at the poolside bar (which are delicious) and getting involved with the outlandish Latino moves in the pool.

We never had a problem getting a sun lounger and we didn’t get up early. Of course if you want the best spots right by the pool you may need to be quicker but we always had plenty of choice. On the beach it’s harder to get a lounger, especially at the weekend. There are two large pools and a smaller kiddies pool along with various bubble pools. Our three year old tried them all. Expect to be bashed over the head by lilos and beach balls of various shapes and sizes and splashed by dive bombing children. The large saltwater pool at the bottom of the complex was usually quieter.

Finally there is Kikoland which is a huge bonus for families- basically a pool, playground areas, activity huts and sports facilities for children divided into age groups. There is a busy and varied programme with enthusiastic staff. Our daughter was too young to be left alone there but parents can accompany children and again there were lots of loungers by the kikoland pool.

The only thing the hotel is lacking is an outdoor area to have a drink and congregate in the evening. The entertainment is in a large indoor theatre and to be honest it’s not great - it’s aimed at children and run by the kids club staff - but it felt loud, dark and claustrophobic. The plaza area is lovely and had some good live music but you can only sit there to eat a meal in one of the two restaurants.

Hints before you go:
Don’t bother to pack beach towels as the hotel provide them fresh each day and you can take them to the beach.

The hotel has a slightly archaic rule about men wearing long trousers in the evening, this is enforced in all restaurants apart from the outdoor ones (tapas and don Giovanni) so pack a few pairs.

Under threes have to be supervised in the soft play and they won’t let you in without socks - I didn’t pack any socks and couldn’t take my daughter in.

If you book through Tots to Travel don’t expect too much from the list of toddler and baby items they promise to provide. Half the items were missing and the ‘toys’ provided consisted of two plastic cups. Our toddler had to share our bed all week as the cot (that we didn’t ask for) was too small and the living room sofa bed had no guard (that we did ask for) which we didn’t want to risk with the hard tiled floor. On check in we were asked to provide our hotel voucher, which Tots To Travel didn’t send, so we started the holiday with a frantic search through numerous emails to try and justify our booking to the hotel. They also couldn’t help us to sort transfers with a child seat so we had to ask the hotel directly (which was sorted no problem) which left us wondering what their role was as an agent. We’d book direct next time.

There is a photographer at the hotel and I wasn’t initially interested in having any photographs taken. However there was no obligation to buy so I let the photographer take some shots of my daughter by the pool. In about ten minutes she took some amazing shots - far better than anything I’d captured all holiday - and they are reasonably priced.

Thank you to the hardworking staff at the resort for giving us a great holiday
