We spent a week in Paradise Island from 14 to 21 June. We're a family of 4, the 1 bedroom apartment was clean and tidy, the beds were very hard and there was only one very thin pillow each - we had to ask for some more. In the apartment there is a fridge, kettle, hob etc great for making a cuppa etc, we didn't need more than that as we were all inclusive. In the apartment there is air conditioning, a safe and a TV, none of these will work until you visit reception and pay for the use of them. The Aircon is free but you have to put down a €10 deposit for the remote, we didn't pay for the TV but there's a charge plus another deposit for the remote. The safe costs €1 a day plus a €10 deposit for the key and lock, plus we needed a hairdryer, so there was another €20 deposit needed. If you are going all inclusive and haven't got much spending money then watch out, all these deposits add up and can leave you with nothing to spend. On the day of checkout we had to leave the apartment at 12:00 pm, we went to reception and checked out where they insisted on removing our all inclusive armbands - this effectively means that if you've got to hang around for the rest of the day you have to pay them extra money for food and drinks! Not good as it wasn't mentioned in the Thomas Cook brochure. Apparently this is a new policy this year, the receptionist told us it was 'international law' more like international b****cks if you ask me.

On the plus side the pools were good, the animation team put their heart and soul into their work, they provided loads of fun activities all through the day and at night, and the last night show was really great. The new water park attached to the hotel was amazing - there was a 4 lane long slide, two small tube slides, a large tube slide with inflatables and then two very high/fast slides. While we were there they were adding yet another small tube slide as well. There's a smaller pool for toddlers/younger kids with it's own slides and we were told that they're also adding another swimming pool next year and a go-kart track. There was hardly anyone using the water park so there were no queues at all - great!

The food in the restaurants was good quality. One of our kids is a bit of a fussy eater so she had trouble finding much to eat, but the food quality was good. Not so much cordon bleu as little chef, but even so good. The included local alcoholic drinks were OK, though I'd question how much alcohol was in them, despite trying we struggled to get much more than a little tipsy!

For my first proper holiday abroad, i had an absolutely fantastic time when flying with Thomas Cook, and it's all thanks to the Entertainment Team, our Thomas Cook Representative Lucia and the Kids World entertainment team. They were all fantastic and made my holiday a special one to remember. Gonna miss them all loads, i hope i see them again one day.

Room Tip: 2 Bedroom apartments, more choice of sleeping arangements.
