Description: The Baracchina is a typical Tuscan countryside “trattoria”, where simplicity combines with genuineness.Born in the 60ies as a shack where, on weekends, people from Florence would go for picnics, it slowly evolved into what it is now, a trattoria with an easy and informal atmosphere. The Baracchina is suggestive and cozy in winter, with its small lounge heated by fireplace and wood stoves, and striking in summer, when meals can be taken in the refreshing shade of secular oaks and cypresses. The owner likes to recall how thirty or more years ago Angiolino used to barbecue huge steaks while his sister cooked penne strascicate and beans the Tuscan way. A short waiter served the dishes and, during the pods season, yelled not to throw the hulls to the ground. The management changed several times, with more or less success, until the Baracchina nearly closed down in the years spanning the two centuries. But the place is cozy and it has what it takes, so why not resume the principles of the early years, which were simplicity and genuineness, combined with a fair price and a professional and skilled management. This is the new/old Baracchina, a “substancial” trattoria, the ideal place for those who wish to eat well, no frills at an honest price. Perfect for an informal dinner as well as for the Sunday lunch, and for business or tourist luncheons. You will also find a suggestive glass veranda surrounded by huge trees, especially suited for banquets like communions, business meals, birthdays and so on.

This was near our hotel & had good reviews so we stopped for lunch. Food was excellent. Really cute atmosphere. We went past at dinner and it was super busy. You really can't go wrong!

Beautiful location in the quiet Tuscan hills, but only minutes from downtown Florence. Outside dining was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly. We were there with friends that have two young children, and they were accepted as part of the family. Oh, did I mention, the food was delicious. Six off us ate and drank way too much for 99 Euro. We'll be back.

My extended Italian family that lives nearby took me here for lunch. Mostly locals were eating here, which is a good sign for me. I loved it! We are outdoors and the ambiance was like dining on your own porch surrounded by your neighbors. The food was terrific. Starters for the table of bruschetta, some fried polenta, and some beans that were super. I had a pasta with bolognese sauce that was very good, followed by a fantastic piece of steak that the group shared. The white wine came from the winery across the road!
Worth a visit!!

We were a little disappointed after eating here at short notice for Easter lunch.
Entree and pasta were fine, without being great, but the mains were tough work. Despite the generous serve, the lamb had a weird cloying flavour. Unlike excellent rare beef I've eaten elsewhere in Tuscany, the dish here was exceptionally chewy and served with an inedible side salad. We barely touched either.
€38pp is not cheap. By our standards, it's a 'special occasion' budget, particularly given the quality of meals we've had in the region for a third of the price. As such, we felt a little hard done by and said as such when asked how our meal was when we left (hoping, to be honest, for a gesture of goodwill on the final bill). The manager was personable enough but simply said that the meal was prepared in a traditional way, and that everyone else (primarily a few large families) ate it without complaining. Fair enough.
By all means, if you're a large family who measure success of a meal by the weight of your meat intake then I can highly recommend this place. For anyone more interested in beautifully cooked food, try one of the many other places nearby.

Hello Mr. disappointed, IT WAS a special occasion! In our obsolete tradition we call it Easter, it's when Jesus, the son of our God, resurrected after beeing crucified and we are used to go eating somewhere right out of the city, to welcome springtime. All restaurants are full of happy families and all restaurants offer a special menu for that lunch and if you decided to come to my trattoria it's because you comparated the prices of the others and found mine covenient, I presume.
But price was your obsession. You could order everything you desired from the menu for that price and so you did: trying to obtain maximun for the money, you ordered everything and I think that your appetite arrived in bad conditions to the meats.
Anyway, until this moment you didn't look so disappointed.
The disappointment came all at the moment of the bill, when you asked for a discount: nice try, my dear, but "accà nisciuno è fesso!" (ask the lady with you about the meaning as she spoke a very good italian).

Local friends took us to this delightfully simple and simply delightful place. Nothing fancy on the menu but authentic Tuscan dishes though mainly for carnivores. However, in the antipasti, primi and contorni sections, also vegetarians will find sufficient choices of Tuscan specialities. The food is not fancy but fresh and well prepared, the local wines are delicious, and so are desserts. Coffee is outstanding. And the final bill for a four-course meal with wine and coffee was moderate. Having a car to get here is sine-qua-non. Ample parking under the trees. Definitely a place to return to.
