We've been going to Sicily every year for 10 years now, and, for us, every trip simply has to include a stay at Il Limoneto. On this beautiful island, Il Limoneto is an exceptionally beautiful place: situated amidst a sea of lemon trees, it's lovely and peaceful. And the owners (Fabrizio and Veronica and their family) are fantastic, hospitable people. Ideal for relaxation, peace and quiet, but at the same time Taormina, Catania, Mount Etna and even Siracusa are all within short driving distance, as well as some nice beaches. We always recommend to everyone we know: if you go to Sicily, make sure to go to Il Limoneto!

People traveling through Italy, can tell wonderful stories about everything they see and experience. The stories about the food, are often the most impressive. Sicily is no different. The meals are often simple, but explosive in flavour. Travelers, who arrive in San Leonardello, are there only because they have visited the Etna. Because in the hamlet at the foot of the famous volcano is not much to see. Except Il Limoneto, an old wine farm at the foot of Mount Etna. In this farm you’ll find Daniela in the kitchen making the most delicious lunches. Join her at the table and get to know the Sicilian cuisine. If you’re lucky, she prepares a Caponata. It is a mix of red and green peppers, celery, green olives and capers in a sweet and sour dressing. Of course there is also tomato sauce. That sour taste comes from the agrodolce. Daniela makes it by dissolving sugar in vinegar. I discovered that it tastes delicious with a glass of red wine and fresh bread.

The whole estate is set within a lemon orchard. We spent four glorious days there. The weather was beautiful and the apartment. though a little basic, clean, comfortable and great value for money. Fabrizio and his family were very welcoming and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. In fact, I'd like to go straight back there for another trip to this fascinating and gracious Island and "Il Limonetto".

Room Tip: I think the views from all of them are beautiful.

The room was clean, comfortable, full of local charm and well equipped. The grounds are gorgeous and the owners are very hospitable, knowledgeable of the area and responsive to any requests. I felt like familia! We will be staying again on our next trip.

Stayed at Il Limoneto for just five nights and managed to see and do a great deal. Fantastic location, and great views across to Mount Etna and the sea. Came with my father who had visited 20 years ago - and we were welcomed back like old friends. Fabrizio and his parents were delighted to see my father again. Farmhouse is rather difficult to locate so strongly recommend coming with a sat nav. Wouldn't want to find it at night with just a map...
