We visited Terra Di Mare for a short break at the end of September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! In short, we would definitely recommend the hotel and area of San Teodoro for a quieter couples, friends or family holiday. We have included a longer review below, which answers some of the questions that I know we had before our stay.
--- Getting There ---
It is a short 25 minute drive from Olbia airport. We took a taxi from the rank at the airport and agreed a price of 70 Euros. The taxi meter far exceeded this by the time we got to the hotel so do make sure you agree your price beforehand, which the driver seemed more than happy to do. The driver also arranged for our pickup at a cheaper rate. Overall this worked out slightly cheaper than the pre-booked prices that we had seen online. If you are not taking a taxi or hiring a car then there is the option of the 514 bus, which costs a few Euros and takes about 30 minutes. This was our initial plan but do allow for a back up - the buses do not run often and we found ourselves with a 1 hour wait, hence the decision to get a taxi!
--- Hotel Facilities ---
The hotel offered everything we were looking for on a short break. We were travelling at the end of the season, which could be why we had more room at the pool, bar, etc. The accommodation seems to be split into apartments and hotel room blocks, of which we stayed in the latter. Pool towels are provided and there were more than enough sun beds, all with umbrellas, giving a choice of shade or sun. The breakfast included is mostly continental with a few hot options (bacon and eggs) but with a good selection of bread, cereals, fruit, cheese, yoghurts, meat and more. We did not have dinner at the hotel but we did have lunch a number of times, which was just as good (if not better on some occasions) than the food we had in restaurants outside of the hotel. Wide drinks selection is also available. Bike hire is a very affordable at 6 Euros per day, but do check your bike before setting off! Some of the bike seats are easier to adjust than others and we very nearly set off with a seat that would not lock in place. A small gym room is available - consisting of a few machines and weights. The bar is open in the evenings until at least 11pm.
--- The Room ---
We stayed in the hotel section (not the apartments) and were lucky enough to get a first floor room with a west facing balcony so that we could watch the sun set over the mountains. As with most hotels, the balcony is always hit and miss and ground floor balconies are open to the grounds of the hotel. The room itself is basic but as this was a short stay it was not too much of a problem. A safe, aircon and a mini fridge are all included with the stay. The fridge included beer and water when we arrived but this was not refilled.
--- Things To Do & Surrounding Area ---
If you hire a car (which we did not) then you have the whole island or Sardinia available to you. If not, there is still more than enough to do. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus to La Cinta beach, which is a 30 minute walk from the hotel if you fancy stretching your legs. We hired two beds and an umbrella with table for 15 Euros for the day when at La Cinta. Isuledda beach is slightly further away without the shuttle bus option and so we hired bikes to ride there. Isuledda is much quieter than La Cinta. Maneggio La Cinta offers sun rise / sunset horse riding tours - we were planning to do this but unfortunately did not have time. The feedback we heard was great, however. The town of San Teodoro is a 15/20min walk from the hotel and this includes a good selection or restaurants, bars, tourist shops and gelato shops.
--- Service & Staff ---
Everyone that served us a the hotel was genuinely incredibly helpful. All spoke enough English to understand our requests and provide answers - our Italian unfortunately was not up to scratch! The pool and surrounding areas are also kept very clean.
