We arrived after a long day driving in real bad wheather. Tired as we were we were friendly greeted by the reception staff. She even walked with us to our room. The hotel is only a couple of minutes walking away from the centre of town. Some reviewer mentioned a long walk but I assure you it is just a pleasant stroll.

The centre is impressive and the sea colours very beautiful. More than enough places to get decent food, yes this was pleasant.

Back to the hotel. The room is small but well furnished. The decor is tasteful. Everything you can wish for is available. Breakfast is also served in a tasteful decor. Staff delivers a fine cappucino! It is an italian breakfast so a lot of sweet stuff although there are many healthy choices too.

To me a good stay is all about the people and here they made me feel very welcome!

We arrived with me stressed out over a problem back in the US. Alma and Rosella were extremely helpful to me in getting a message back to the US to resolve the problem. They also provided great suggestions for dinner, made sure our car got to the garage, and were totally charming in every way possible. The hotel is perfectly located to walk into the old city. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel 7 months in advance as we were attending a wedding in Otranto. We spent a long time choosing the hotel as we had decided to spend a bit more and make this more of a romantic getaway without the children. I cannot stress how much we were looking forward to staying at this hotel as the location was perfect for us and the hotel looked beautiful.
However, two weeks before our trip, we received an email from Booking.com, saying our room was no longer available and we were offered a hotel outside of the town. My husband called Booking.com, who said they would look into it for us. We never heard from them again. My husband phoned the hotel and was abruptly told that room was no longer available and nothing could be done. However, on other websites, the same standard of room was available but at a considerably higher price to what we had booked ours for.
We stayed at the Vittoria Hotel and Spa resort instead and had a lovely time, but that does not excuse the poor attitude of the Relais.

The staff was very friendly. The location was perfect to us, with a little bit of walk, but near to the seaside. The terraces on the rooftop are amazing. They have few free parking places in front of the hotel, which was enough for us, because it was low season. But during the high season I think it might be a bit of problem.

This is a big smart hotel that looks 5* but we had some niggles that would bring it down. It was however good value for money at £145 for 2 nights.

The location is fine, outside the old town so that you can drive right up to it and park close by, but only a short stroll into town.

When we checked in the receptionist was very helpful in showing us where to park (on the same side of the street as the hotel is unrestricted, the other side has to be paid for), and storing the luggage because our room wasn't ready. When we returned, the luggage had been put in the room which was a nice touch.

The room itself (103) was big and had excellent electric shutters that completely cut out the light. However, it was on the ground floor close to reception and facing the street which was far from ideal. The bathroom had a sliding door that wanted to close all the time and the toilet seat was completely loose - when we told reception about that they did fix it for us. The biggest issue was the shower stall which was literally 1cm deep and relied on a good seal between the two doors to keep the water in. Of course there was no good seal between the doors, and the slightest touch to either door caused a huge flood on the bathroom floor.

The hot tub is not free, there is a 10 Euro per person charge, and while we were there it was closed because of the weather although they didn't explain exactly what was wrong with the weather.

Breakfast is good but the breakfast room is far too small for the number of bedrooms so be prepared to constantly dodge around people, to wait for access to the very small table of food and possibly to have to wait for a table.

So a hotel aspiring to be 5* but falling short in several small ways. I would probably have rated it a 3 if it hadn't been so cheap and if the reception staff hadn't been so helpful.
