Situated in the old town, along the front overlooking the marina, Palazzo de Mori makes a good base to stay. It’s very handy being able to pop in and out when visiting the sites in the old town which is delightful, albeit very touristy.
One big disadvantage of the old town location though is you have to park outside the old town and carry all luggage across the wooden bridge and along the cobbled streets up and down some steps. In fairness it’s not that far, taking about 5 mins from the nearest spots, but would be tiring if you have much luggage or are less fit.
Rooms in the B&B vary somewhat, based from comments other guests made, but we had a 2nd floor double aspect room with good views (albeit standing up), so we were fine.
It did have soundproof windows which were needed as it was very noisy well through the small hours. It did have aircon which we’d have ideally not used as it was a bit noisy, but it was the lesser of two evils.
Our room was a good size, as was the shower. Bed ok.
Breakfast could be taken on the terrace or inside. It was a good spread. Inevitably it’s always difficult to get good tea when travelling as the water is often not fully boiled, so was variable. Coffee was as you would expect, very good.
We had some helpful input on restaurants and booking, though one which was suggested turned out to be closed. The other which was booked was excellent - see separate report on Balconcino d’Oriente.
In general staff could have been a bit more friendly at breakfast.
We’d recommend staying at Palazzo de Mori and taking the higher priced rooms.
PS One shop we particularly liked in Otranto was the Mosaic craft shop (Officina Mosaico) adjacent to the Cathedral. There was true creative craftsmanship from the man and wife team made on the premises. They were excellent at explaining the detail. We bought several pieces. After appreciating all the mosaic work in the Cathedral the shop is a must visit. The owner man assisted in 1970 on the floor restoration after learning his craft in Ravenna.

We spent three wonderful nights in this beautiful B and B,nestled in the old town of Otranto. The staff was gracious and made us feel so welcome. The understated elegance of the rooms and dining room, the terrace with an unforgettable view of the harbor and delicious continental breakfasts were a highlight of our trip. You won't be disappointed in this gem of a place.

I stayed in in October 2012 but it made such an impression on me. I loved it. I see some reviews talk about the importance of a view from the room, but I stayed in the room right off the street and it was fantastic. A walk upstairs to breakfast on the terrace. Room was very private and it felt like I was coming home each night to my own place. Like others have said, terrace views are magnificent- day and night. I want to return again someday soon.

This is an old villa which is renovated and turned into a hotel. It is located in the historical town overlooking the marina. The view from the terrace and some of the rooms are very nice. The whole place is decorated in White and is very naive and romantic. The hotel has a few rooms so it's not crowded. You feel as if you are home. The manager and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is one suite which I can recommend especially to families because it's very large and comfortable. The only problem was that the air conditioning system was broken, but we didn't have a problem with that since it was cool at nights at the time we stayed there. You should make sure that it's working since it will be hotter from now on. Other than this, we enjoyed our stay there.

Dear Esen,
We are happy to read that the stay at our B & B was of its own!
We thank you for the positive words about the structure and service, and we can add honestly that we were happy to welcome you!
Unfortunately the air conditioning problem did not cause us, but it was a technical problem in the car.In the hope of being chosen for the second time.
Yours sincerely

A most comfortable and cosy B&B, with an authentic local italian style. Fantastic breakfasts on a balcony with stunning view over the harbour making the location unforgettably romantic. Really warm welcome, and great facilities and brilliant shower!
