We stayed here for a week in early September 2017. On arrival we were very happy to see the beautifully manicured gardens and setting, a green oasis amidst olive groves. Colourful flowers and vines planted throughout the gardens. The reception staff were more than welcoming and we were shown to our comfortable and very clean room on the ground floor.
We booked a table in the restaurant on the first night ( which was a Saturday) and were told that the only table we could have was 7.30 as there were few tables left. This sounded promising that the restaurant was popular and therefore good. However, it was very slow, the food very average and highly priced for what it was. It was very popular with the locals though. To cut a long story short, the hotel was lovely but the atmosphere lacklustre. We had finished our meal at 9.00 and asked if there was a bar we could move to as it was Saturday and the first day of our holiday. There is no bar area other than the pool bar which closes early evening. So we took a couple of glasses of wine and sat outside in the gardens.
I think what was lacking was a Manager's presence, meeting and greeting and overseeing some of the eccentricities of the other members of staff. The very OCD pool attendant who kept removing our towels from our sunbeds if we left our beds for a few minutes. On returning to our sunbeds we asked for some fresh towels and he told us there would be a charge. My husband had to go to reception to ask them why we would be charged and they had to telephone the attendant to ask him to give us some fresh towels. He did this with a resentful air as if we had been very difficult.
He also kept putting our umbrella down at the slightest gust of wind. This became quite an amusing thing to watch as various hotels guests refused to let him take away their sun shade. Each morning guests were greeted with a scowl by the pool attendant who was obviously not happy with his job. His attitude as well as the restaurant manager who just gave a haughty nod did not make us want to return. If the staff could spend one day at the Canne Bianche Hotel, they would understand how a warm welcome goes a long way. The reception staff at Tenuta were all great and we were upgraded on the last night due to a small leak coming through the hotel room ceiling however the whole place would have benefitted with a manager drifting around checking on his guests and even a welcome drink would have been a nice gesture!

This was an excellent stay to forget about home from the moment you enter the gate. We would not hesitate to stay again. We did visit in June and I think the entire Otranto region might get too crowded during July - August. Which could take away some of the tranquility and peaceful ambiance.

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights and could not be more delighted with this place. The staff is incredibly friendly and really did all they can to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our first night we had trouble sleeping because the climate in our room was too damp for us and without hesitation the staff moved us to a different room where the climate was much better for us. It was one of the few times that hotel personnel exceed our expectations.

Then of course there are the beautiful surroundings which immediately brings you into that vacation vibe. Nice and clean rooms, good beds, beautiful pool,... And the breakfast is simply fantastic with all kinds of pastries.

The location also is excellent. Otranto is really close and nice to walk around/have dinner. We also did trips to Lecce, some beaches, etc. All very doable without too long of a drive.

And then of course the restaurant... This really deserves it's own entry on Tripadvisor. We had the small lunch 3 times and dinner 2x. Next to Altrobaffo it was the best restaurant we visited. Food incredible good and fresh. Authentic Italian courses that highlight the use of basic, fresh ingredients. The lunch burratina and orechiette were amazing.

Short version: we would not hesitate to stay here again

We had an amazing stay here. It has a luxurious & rural feel to the place, which is situated in the middle of olive groves!
One lovely evening my boyfriend & I wanted to go for a cycle down to the seaside around midnight. This was not a problem & the receptionist organised us with great bikes.
The poolside is perfect for a couple of aperol spritz after a quick dive!

I would definitely recommend ESP for a romantic get away!

I am normally not one for leaving reviews, however this place left me with a bitter taste and I am sorry we stayed for two nights.

The grounds match the photos that you see online and the rooms are spotless as is the swimming pool. Unfortunately for us, the resort was advertised to us as a spa and wellness facility. It fails to mention that you have to book and pay for use of the spa/sauna/jacuzzi etc. Massages are of course an extra payment, and I would never dream of expecting this to be included within the price, however when a place is advertised with use of a spa area, I would not expect to be charged a minimum of 40 euros per person (60 if you go in as a couple) for use of the area. I have never heard of this before!
Whilst this was a misunderstanding through the website, the hotel staff did nothing to try and rectify the issue.

The breakfast was ok, on the first day we arrived at 10.15, the breakfast closed at 10.30 - there was minimal stuff left and it was not replenished. I understand that there were only 15 minutes left of breakfast, however if this was the case then breakfast should have closed at 10.15. The waiter serving was an absolute delight, as was Francesco - the receptionist who greeted us when we first arrived for check-in. All other staff left us with a slightly bitter taste as they were convinced that they were right and we were wrong.
It is in the middle of nowhere which would have been ok as we were aware of this at the start - but we went with the intention of using the spa which we obviously did not do. Would not return or recommend.

Dear guests,

We are sorry that you had this misunderstanding but as well advertised on all sites our is a personal spa and it is an extra cost and also on booking confirmation is indicated which services are included in the price. We tried to explain the situation but your only thought was to do the free spa.

Kind regards.

Alessandro S.

Some Deutsche friends recommended us this fantastic resort but we didn't expect it would be as incredible as it really was. Since the first moment we arrived there we received a great hospitality (as never before in Italy), a nice lady brought us to our room and was at our full disposal for all the days. Then we eat a lot of tasty local specialities (wine and fish are their masterpieces) and we heard at some good music (piano and jazz) during the chill time in the pool. Music is always on.
So, I could stay here to tell you one hundred other incredible things we lived here but I think to have yet let you understand is the right place to be for a trip in south Italy.
