Just returned from a week's stay at The Riposo Del Vento. The owners, Francesca & Juan are very welcoming and willing to help with places to eat, visit and also arranged a brilliant massage for me at the side of our room. The Trulli buildings are beautiful and Juan has worked hard on the buildings to ensure they keep a rustic, traditional look while keeping comfort. The Trulli's are set in a very natural, beautiful, quiet country surroundings. It was amazing to eat breakfast and watch the horses in the adjoining field. The breakfasts have choices of cereals, fresh fruit, bread rolls, cheeses, hams and a huge selection of homemade savoury and sweet pastries, along with homemade jams. The coffee was just perfect.
The Riposo Del Vento is ideally situated for areas/towns/coastal areas to visit. We hired a car for the week and enjoyed the drives to various places. The area is still typical a Italian and not very touristy. The local village, within walking distance, has typical Italian restaurants and an Italian family run supermarket where you can buy anything. The staff at the Locanda restaurant where extremely helpful and welcoming serving delicious food. We also used various restaurants in nearby Cisternino and other towns. The restaurants open at 7.30pm in the evening as the temperatures are cooling by then. Most shops & bakeries shut by 1pm because of the high temperatures during the day then re-open around 5.30pm. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool at the Riposo Del Vento in the afternoons. Francesca, Juan, children and grandparents give this place a family environment feel. We would certainly recommend a stay here.
