Lotta Svärd Museum is owned by Lotta Svärd Foundation. It is located in Tuusula around 30 km from Helsinki Center. Easiest to go by own car. It is composed of the museum, museum shop and a cafe. Really worthwhile to visit. The museum is small but a lot of opportunity to use all your senses. Nice surroundings.
In the Tuusulajärvi area and along the old road there are several interesting destinations to visit like Ainola (Sibelius), Ahola (Juhani Aho, Venny Soldan-Brofelt), Halosenniemi (Halonen), Erkkola etc.

Lotta Museum is located beside lake Tuusula. at autumn there is a festival taking place on Järvitie of Tuusula, when Lotta Museum is organizing buffet to everyone. As well there is many other happening on same road same time. Other good timing is come at Finnish Mid Summer Festival.
On these times or ote times when Lotta Museum is open, you will have splendid service and enjoy their cafeteria.
If you like cycling, there is excellent 20 kilometers circle to cycle around lake of Tuusula and plan to have an one stop at Lotta museum. There are more places to have other stops.
If you arrive at winter time you can take skies instead of bicycle and enjoy skiing on ice around of lake.

We were taken here by our Finnish friend as part of the cultural home of the Finnish people and it is a traditional café serving good coffee and traditional pastries and more substantial lunch items. There are photos on the walls showing how the cooperative worked when it was a going concern. It is aimed at the Finns so don't expect anything in English although the staff speak English and are very helpful.
