Needs Renovation for sure. Breakfast was not well staffed and the buffet was empty in the key areas. Long lines for self serve coffee. Asked for an extra towel and flat out told no you can’t have it. Pool towels are at the far end of the beach area 100+ yards from the pool. Restaurants don’t open till 7:30. Staff doesn’t speak much English and that could be part of the problem but still many fundamental problem so I would not return

This hotel is in a great location and has a nice beach and pool. Close to restaurants, a few shops and the casino. We stayed in the Clipper and paid for a sea view room - beautiful view with a balcony. The breakfast buffet was good, but it was essentially the same everyday. The rooms are bare bones and definitely need a cosmetic upgrade. The tile, paint, and bedspread was very tired. The majority of the staff, were not friendly or helpful. We rejected a glass of wine after drinking out of the glass and the bartender re-served the glass to a customer. We do not speak French and they made it clear they did not want to help us out. There were 2 or 3 Very Friendly staff though. We would not stay here again, mostly due the unprofessional staff.

Room tip: The clipper had a great balcony - stay on the 5th floor

Hotel was a disapointment. We paid extra to get best rooms and best view. Found ants in two rooms and cockroaches in one. We were told hotel was fully booked and alternate rooms not available. Towels were removed at a.m. cleaning but not replaced until late afternoon, and seldom a full set delivered (one or more towels short). What to use when using bathroom in the meantime.
At brekafast every morning, found birds sitting and picking in breadbasket, no protection/net to keep birds and their remains away.
If its logistic or management its hard to tell but hotel have better potential.
At the hotel we met some people from a travel agency scouting for new hotels, we shared opinions and had about the same thoughts and experiences with Karibea.
Staff at reception was very helpful and servceminded.
Arrived on a sunday and went straight to hotel beach, we’re out of beachtowels!
Got new ones tuesday morning, in the meantime got bad or false excuses from beach staff. Arrived at hotelbeach one afternoon, no free sunbeds. Asked crew for two beds.
”I will not take out two more beds” he said (beds in shed 2m away)
No surpice, we spent our time and money on other beaches.
A hotel better for conference than vacation.
We also stayed at another 3-star hotel next door and it was easy to compare.
And yes, weather was fine

The property was clean and well landscaped. The beach area is a bit small, but there are options for relaxing on the beach, swimming, taking out a jet ski, etc. Our room was spacious enough, though much of interior and furnishings were dated. Our room included a balcony overlooking the grounds with cheap, but functional furniture. There’s a nice bar area in the lobby, and another bar close to the beach and pool. A pricey waterfront restaurant is onsite, but there are several good meal options within walking distance. There is also a mini-market adjacent to the property with many of the basics, including wine, beer, munchies, etc.

We just got back from Guadeloupe and we stayed at Karibea (Salako). It is indeed a 3 star hotel, so don't expect a 5 star experience. We stayed in Salako building in a superior room, it was clean and tidy with everything you need. However, there were 2 negatives, 1st, the safe needed a special lock that you have to get from the reception, throughout our stay we asked for it for 3 times and they didn't have any left, which meant that we always carried our valuables which was really annoying. The 2nd negative is that the coffee and tea supplies at the room are rarely supplied, even when you ask the housekeeper for some coffee packs (even when you tip her) she gives you barely anything, but there's a kettle!
Beach: is great, I would say the best hotel beach in the area, pool is ok.
Service: is definitely a hit or miss, we came across a couple of really nice staff members and couple of others who were very dismissive, one of them even yelled at us! So we tried to just keep it short and not ask for many things. It is definitely not a service that is provided with pleasure!
Breakfast: was fine, but definitely there could be improvement, for example eggs could be cooked longer, not everyone likes slimy eggs! otherwise, a solid 3 stars breakfast.
Couple of tips: if you plan on going to la Datcha beach, I would tell you that it's not really worth it when you have this hotel's beach. La datcha is a beautiful "city" beach meaning that it is not nicely prepared and may be a little dirty in some parts, its waters are beautiful but not worth the trip unless you don't have any other beach to go to.
Second tip, across the street from the hotel there is a nice collection of restaurants, they are touristic and pricey but you it's easy to get a meal there.
Third tip, taxi fare during the day from the airport should cost you around 30e and at night 40e. You will need to agree with the driver before getting in.
Enjoy your trip!

A see a lot of mixed reviews for this place. But you get what you pay for. People comparing to the Hilton have too look at what they pay. At least from my searches this was the cheapest beach hotel with a pool I could find on our dates, and it did not disappoint. Nice room, nice beach, nice pool. Perfect for families. Very nice kiddypool. Good breakfast. Also found service to be good enough, although not super. Searching around on this hotel is a bit conducing as it seems to operate under many names, and all three buildings on the property have different names and are seemed as different hotels? But all three are very close together (the Salako and Prao could be seen as one building). We stayed in the Salako, and was happy with that. Did not eat dinner at the hotel, but plenty of restaurants just up the street, or in Gosier town, which is 15 min walk away.

Prao, Salako and Clipper are one and the same hotel. These are just the names of the buildings, depending on the room categories.
See you soon.
