I visited Guadeloupe for a weekend on a business trip in Feb 2019. The staff is incredibly friendly and I felt welcomed right away. The front desk staff really when out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed.
The room was very clean and comfortable with all of the basics, internet, effective air conditioning; etc. I couldn’t find any English channels but was happy to enjoy French and didn’t spend much time in the room.
The grounds are nice, not amazing but totally fine for a mid level vacation or business trip.
Food at the restaurant was good. The buffet changes slightly each night and was tasty. Nothing blew me away but again for an affordable break, it was fine. There are some fun restaurants a 15 min walk away at a NYC pace. Great local food and a few tourist shops.
The beach was small and pretty enough. There was a lot of seaweed, might have been the season or there may have been a storm but it really was a lot that kept washing up on the edge of the shore. They had someone there most of the morning well into the afternoon cleaning it all up but it was stubborn and kept coming. In the water, the beach was a bit rocky. It felt like a storm had churned things up a bit but I’m sure will settle back soon. For the most part there were plenty of sections with smooth sand.
Water was cool and refreshing. I prefer clearer water but it was very pretty. It rained off and on but didn’t ruin my short time on the beach.
If you want a three star hotel, that’s exactly what this is, no more, no less. I prefer a bit more glamor and fuss but for my quick business trip it was perfectly fine. If I was paying for a vacation it would be worth it to me to pay a little more for something a bit fancier since I don’t travel much. I wouldn’t spend more than a long weekend there, Thurs-Sun. Longer and I’d need some more fluff. For a family trip, it’s quite appropriate though it was an older crowd.
I used to travel a lot for work, nearly forty countries. I really know hotels and accommodations and this is a real three star place. It’s a bit pricey for a three star stay if I had paid for it but if you’re looking for a three, this is it.
If you come this far and stay here, make sure you plan to visit other beaches and other parts of the island. This isn’t a great representation of the beauty of Guadeloupe.
