Due to budget we had no choice but to chose the Canella, though the reviews were somewhat varied. We were not disappointed. We had a brillant long weekend. Our room was in fact 2 small studios each with a balcony and kitchen. The boys studio was above ours and joined indoors by staircase. Both studios looked recently renovated. The pool spotless and open until 10pm. The hotel beach is virtually private for the hotel guests as outsiders have a hard time getting to it. The water crystal clear and safe for kids, however when we were there, like many other parts of Guadeloupe at the time there were jellyfish. Not big ones. We all got stung but didn't stop us from bathing. There is a water scooter rental company on the beach too plus canoes (free for guests I believe, canoes, not water scooters). We didn't use the hotel restaurant for lunch nor dinner but preferred to walk down the road towards the casino as we’d seen several places, ended up eating fast food . Breakfast was included in our break, which was fine, however the coffee was hideous. The restaurant area is like a bird aviary, which we didn’t mind and look out for the iguanas which roam around the tables. Kids loved it. We paid for 2 nights 5 people (duplex accommodation) 300 euros. Compared to other hotels its very cheap. As we return to Guadeloupe every 2 years we’ll certainly return, especially as the music festival is be continued apparently next door to us in Le Moule :( p.s. The reception team speak English.
