“Warm and cozy 18th century cottage with everything you need”
Reviewed 26 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

For the 4th year running we travelled up to the beautiful highlands. This year we stayed in Honeysuckle cottage, which is warm and inviting and surprisingly spacious. It is ideally situated to travel throughout the northern highlands, and that is exactly what we did. From Inverewe Gardens, Plocton, culloden, inverness, Loch Ness, the Black Isle etc. there are 3 large bedrooms (2 double, one of which is en suite, and 1 twin)
The cottage is by far the best stocked for living in a 'home from home' with coffee machine and every conceivable kitchen utensil you could possibly need. The hosts Maire (pronounced Moya) and Mervin were welcoming and encouraged free access to their beautiful spacious gardens. A fabulous base for a fabulous part of Scotland.

“Simply wonderful vacation!”
Reviewed 29 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We were looking for peace and tranquillity and that was exactly what we got. In Fodderty Lodge you are surrounded by nature but in the same time you're only about half an hour away from Inverness. The excellent location also makes it possible to go pretty much everywhere in the Highlands in just about 3 hours by car.

The Lodge Barn was great, the owners were very helpful and the dogs were adorable.
Overall, the place was great, we had a nice vacation and we recommend this place to everybody.

Thank you for your kind words. Like you, we appreciate how easy it is to reach everywhere in the Highlands from Fodderty. It is possible to gauge the weather and decide where to go: all directions can be explored from here easily. A great advantage!

“Just perfect”
Reviewed 20 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed in Lodgebarn and Eastwing aswel, both cottages are very well equiped and tidy!
Driving north, east, south or west, It's perfectly located in the centre of the highlands which is very nice if you want to make a day trip. Starthpeffer is a lovely village with many things to do, but Maire will give you all the information you need because she's a great host and a lovely lady! This was our second stay in Fodderty lodge and we will most certainly return as soon as possible!

Delighted that you liked Lodge Barn, with your in-laws, and East Wing, with just the two of you. It is always a pleasure to welcome guests back for a return visit, and it looks as though we will see you again..... I'll have to change the books and the DVDs around next time!

“Very cosy, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a superb location”
Reviewed 29 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Most years I spend a week cycling on the wonderful, scenic and generally empty, roads of northern Scotland. A key ingredient is a good base and Lodge Barn fits the bill perfectly for this. Located between Dingwall and Strathpeffer it has everything this old cyclist needs: well equipped kitchen with the all-important washer dryer, TV, wifi but above all the accommodation is a really good conversion of an older building into something that works brilliantly in meeting modern expectations. I was the third person to rent following a major refurbishment and the place was spot on. There's also a lovely area of garden to sit in whilst there's some great walks on the hill to the rear of the property. And love them or loathe them, the 24 hour Tesco is five minutes drive away and offers ready meals that are just the job when you come back from a mountainous 100 mile bike ride (yes really!).
The location of Dingwall is just right for anyone who wants to tour vast swathes of the best parts of Scotland, there's so much within easy reach of this venue that there's no point in listing them here but Maire (who owns Lodge Barn) can give you loads of ideas.
And speaking of Maire, she gives the most wonderful welcome and manages to make sure you've got everything you need... a really great host.

Thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to pass them on to others. I agree that a washer/dryer is a basic necessity when on holiday, and was determined that each of the cottages should have its own one, as well as an outside drying area for the many 'better' days we enjoy up here! M
