A lovely little Spanish hotel full of Spanish speaking staff and guests. Fab setting out of the way, a short stroll from a lovely Spanish beach. If you want somewhere English don't bother, but if you would like a real taste of Spain you will love it. Good food in the restaurant belies its lowly star rating. Nice sized room with basic facilities. Happy to return time and time again.

Arrived yesterday and waited over half an hour at reception to get checked in. I spoke to 4 different members of staff who each said "1 minute" but never returned. I was fuming that i was left standing there so long.

I was then checked in by a lady who reluctantly apologised to me and asked if I still wanted to stay! Not a great start. A drink for the trouble should have been standard.

Anyway, the hotel is excellent. In the middle of nowhere, not far from the beach. The town is a 10 minute drive away- you need a car if staying here although Bikes are for hire.

The room was large, spotlessly clean, had a large TV, fridge and plenty of sockets. The bed was very comfortable. There was air conditioning and a large balcony. The TV had lots of channels but only 1 English- BBC World News. What is it with European hotels thinking all we like is news?? There were plenty of German and French channels!

The pool area was nice and restuarant was very busy and well priced.

I slept well but the corridors were very loud until around midnight.

Breakfast was good- cheese, ham, salami, yoghurts, fruit, toast, croissants and coffee.

The very polite manager checked me out, asked if I slept well and gave me a gift of local grown rice. Very nice gesture. You don't get this charm in larger hotels.

Very nice stay!

We arrived on Sunday afternoon (last week in August) a gloriously warm sunny day, and were welcomed with a sunny smile. Our room was a good size with balcony overlooking the swimming pool and longer views to the right overlooking one of the many massive apple orchards with delicious looking apples. We were six people and were offered lunch straight away, which was delicious. We left our luggage and immediately walked to the amazingly beautiful golden sandy beach, which was the best family beach we had ever seen. At the end of the day, we decided to stop and all have supper together. Another delicious and very reasonably priced two course meal which included a drink if you had a particular menu. Very good value, we thought. In fact, because the special menu meals were such good value, with a drink, we decided to sign in for either the lunch or dinner meals several times during our weeks stay. Our Breakfasts were excellent with various and delicious fresh croissants every day, together with all sorts if fresh and beautifully ripe fruits, peaches, pears in wine, pineapple, figs, yogurts, custard creams, as well as all sorts of fruit drinks coffee, tea and cereals. The weather was so good that we sat outside for most meals. The Restaurant was cheerful with all the Staff being as quick as possible with the meals. The Restaurant was always busy at lunch and dinner, which "speaks volumes" about its quality of food, popularity, and service. Yes, the Hotel Picasso was not easy to find and the staff did not speak different languages,But The Owners, MR. JOAN and MRS EVA are charming and have no problem with speaking English. They loved to have a chat in the evenings, in between being very very 'hands- on busy'!! Their Staff particularly Queti and Mari, are splendid. We would highly recommend the Hotel Restaurant Picasso as a place to stay and enjoy the swimming pool - But in particular the Hotel is so very CONVENIENT for the extensive and wonderful very long safe sandy beach, and the sea has the big river running straight into the sea by the village. It is possible to walk across the river when it meets the sea. Altogether, we had a really relaxing and happy week, with non- stop sunny weather. A GORGEOUS HOLIDAY !!! Jan Kenyon

Room Tip: Always sensible to ask, but other than overlooking the swimming pool it is all ok.

We arrived at The Picasso as the last leg of our 8 day family cycle. The longest leg for our children at 35 kms. It had very good facilities lovely spacious comfortable and clean rooms. Dinner was ok but we felt that some dishes were not cooked fresh on the day such as the paella. Another Belgium couple also thought the same as we did.

The hotel had a friendly family feel to it.

The breakfast was a big disappointment - sadly. The orange juice machine was like something out of a Jacques Tati film. However you tried to dispense it the floor ended up flooded!! Once seen never forgotten.

It bad a nice clean good sized pool. Lovely views. It was close to a lovely beach about 1 km away.

It was in our opinion hopeless as a destination for a family cycle as it was about 15 km to L'Estartit and the same back - too far for an 8 year old.

We felt there were too many extras to add to our dinner bill. Not the right location for us cycling and the food was not as good we had
expected from reports.

This is not an easy place to find, one need a GPS or good map. But the place is very nice if you want to spend a night or two away from the cities. Many Spaniads go there from Barcelona and cities in the north. The beaches are 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The staff do not speak English, as this hotel really caters to Spaniads, (being far from Barcelona 2 1/2 hours. ) but the service is good

The restaurant is excellent for their seafood, especially lobster. It was very good, but my taste personally is fried lobster with scallions and ginger, a la chinoiserie. Other dishes were very well presented and delicious.
We were a part of 8, so were given a side room, which was nice as we could have some privacy there. We were brought by friends from Torroella , a near by town.
This trip was part family and part friends.
