We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel which is in a wonderful position in the absolutely stunning town of Pitigliano. The room was full of character, clean and very comfortable. We had one of the superior rooms with air conditioning, which was a must in one of the hottest Julys in Italy. Thanks to our Italian friends for booking it. Breakfast was very nice and the owners were extremely helpful and friendly. We would certainly stay again.

This is a traditional albergo in the old town. Our room had a giant bed, a fantastic view and church bells at 6am. If you want 21st century plumbing and all the mod cons this is not for you. It's convenient for walkers and those who like to use the local bus service.

We came here for 2 nights on the recommendation of friends, who raved about the views and the breakfasts. We are travelling with two young children, and realized that the rooms only accommodate three. We made up a 'cot' on the very small amount of free floor space from some linen that we had with us. We were greeted with a very dated, and quite run-down room, with beds that were old and very bouncy, a shower that was awful, a teeny TV (with one English channel). There was not so much as a kettle, and no AC or a fan, so we had trouble sleeping in the heat. We went down with two excited kids for breakfast, to find a very small and ordinary selection (powdered / long life milk, little to no fruit, warm hot water). We made the best of it, the location is certainly good, and rooms are quiet, but it was not what we were expecting.

We have been travelling for months now, and are often very happy to stay in clean and quiet, no-frills accommodation, but we expected (for the price), that we would have more of a 'hotel' experience here. There are so many agri-turismo options in the region, that I think anyone travelling to Pitigliano would be wise to consider these as an alternative.

We were suitably awed by the town of Pitigliano - it is a stunning place to visit. Don't miss the thermal spring in Saturnia - especially the free access area - we spent a great couple of hours there.

Albergo Guastini has certainly seen better days and could use a thorough renovation. However, as it is, the hotel provides clean rooms in a location that can't be beat - as far as we could tell, they provide the only hotel-style accommodations inside the old part of the stunningly beautiful town of Pitgliano. Water pressure and water heat were problems in both rooms we occupied. However, the views were magnificent. There are plenty of very high quality, as well as very casual. restaurants a short walk from the hotel and the surrounding countrside is some of the most beautiful we've seen in Italy. The towns of Sorano and Sovana are very close by and well worth visiting.
Upon check out I was told that the credit card machine was not able to get a signal and that I would have to pay cash. The ATM was fairly close by so I did not see this as a problem - however, when the woman at the desk tried to short-change me and also did not provide a proper receipt, the light finally went off in my brain and I realized that I was to be an "off-the-books" transaction. Oh well, it's Italy......
