Stayed here as a family of 4 for 3 nights and was genuinely impressed form start to finish. Room was excellent, breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the location was great. As we got pretty wet (soaked) in the cloud forest (clue's in the name!!) doing hanging bridges and ziplining, the laundry service on offer was most welcome!

All staff were very friendly and Jose was a fountain of knowledge and advice. Have to say Monteverde was my favorite place in C.Rica and that's some accolade. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

We stayed here for 2 nights as our third hotel in Costa Rica after staying at Tortuguero and near the Arenal volcano.

This is a small lodge just outside the small town of Sant Elana. It was off season and I think we were the only people there on our first night.

The staff were outstanding here. Joseph greeted us and gave us a welcome drink and talk about the area. He had a map of the town, with shops, eateries and tours and was highlighting things to do or see. By the end of his talk the whole map was highlighted green. But it was a useful way to figure things out.

The town is a short walk away with shops and places to eat aplenty.

The rooms were clean and basic. The bathroom was a little small. There was no air con and we didn't feel it was needed given the cooler climate in the mountains. WiFi was good in the room.

Breakfast was basic given that there was no buffet. But the food was freshly cooked for us. The fruit and coffee were lovely.

All staff here were brilliant. Helping us with booking tours, directing us into town for things and even talking politics which gave us a good insight in the the country and current news. We visited during some strikes and the staff explained what was going on and what to expect from our onward transfer.

I would highly recommend this lodge and a stay in Monteverdi. I feel as though we could have stayed a couple more nights and seen a bit more of the area.

We stayed here for a few nights on our trip around Costa Rica this year and honestly the place was lovely.
It’s a very cosy hotel and as in the name it has a rustic feel. Everything is made out of wood and it feels really natural which fits into the feel of monte verde.
The staff here are so attentive and they want to do anything they can to help and they speak superb English (if you don’t speak spanish). They treat each guest very personally and I felt like they genuinely care about our stay.
Breakfast was fresh and tasty, fruit with tasty coffee and juicee and then some hot element also which changed day by day.
The rooms were very big, a little dated but very clean and no issues were found. The courtyard is beautiful but it does have a lot of flora meaning quite a lot of insects which can enter the rooms occasionally but you will struggle to find somewhere in CR not like this.
It’s a 10 minute walk from a little town and all transports picks up here if needed.

If you head to Monteverde which you should because the cloud forest is gorgeous then staying here is a great option.

The host makes you feel at home and gives you lots of advice about the local area and restaurants. He is happy to book tours etc and suggest activities. About 5 mins walk from the town so easy access to shops, bars and restaurants.

We enjoyed our stay here. The main desk staff was very helpful and friendly, the included breakfast was delicious (eggs, toast, fresh fruit, pancakes, coffee) and it's an easy walk to downtown Santa Elena. The wind at night was so loud some nights, it sounded like the roof was going to be ripped off, but that is part of the adventure of visiting Costa Rica! Overall, this is an affordable hotel that has a good location and was clean and adequate for our needs.
