Where to begin? The grounds, the service, the room, the food or the view? Tambor Tropical is absolutely beautiful. My wife and I ended up here as a result of booking another place that was a dump. Fortunately we were able to make lemonade out of lemons. You can do absolutely nothing or you can be as active as you want to be. There is an on site tour service that will accommodate any adventure you may want to do. Javier, Toba & Captain Elvis were fantastic.
The rooms are nothing like I've ever seen in all my travels; wood from floor to ceiling. I'm guessing they are about 1000 square feet. The rooms all face east so you can lay in bed and watch the sun rise. The view of the water and Dos Largartos is worth the price of admission. (The beach is maybe 100yards away)
Each room has a kitchenette, and there is a store within walking distance. So if you would like to cook your meal in your room, no problema. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots pans, cutlery, dinner ware, etc. If cooking on vacation is too much of a chore, the restaurant has an excellent menu and is reasonably priced. I highly recommend the shrimp nachos!
There are no TV's, by design. At first the thought of no TV panicked me, but I found it was a good thing.
The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Juan-Ricardo, Noyla, Fatima, and the rest of the staff made us feel wel come and comfortable.
All in all Tambor Tropical is paradise.
There is only one thing we didn't like and that was leaving.

We just got back from 6 nights at Tambor Tropical and had a fantastic experience. It is a beautifully landscaped property. One of our favorite things about the property was the fact that is it home to wild Scarlet Macaws. They are amazing, beautiful birds and it was wonderful to see them daily.

The manager, Juan Carlos, was fantastic and even took us birding on a golf course our first full day there. We saw tons of birds with him and Ruth, our guide. Juan Carlos was always willing to answer any questions that we might have and was quick to provide guidance on places to visit.

The rooms were spacious and were a great home base. They have huge balconies! We also liked hanging out at the poolside bar where we got to meet a lot of different people!

Overalll, highly recommend!

We were only at Tambor Tropical for one night...wish we could've stayed longer! The wood bungalows are so inviting and the interior is perfect! We loved having the pool just outside our door (room 7) and spent most of our time at the pool, or the pool bar..and on the gorgeous beach. The view is AMAZING...so peaceful and we had a wonderful visit. Our bartender was so kind and a wonderful girl. The one complaint we had was that the food was not really spectacular, like you'd expect from such a glorious place. It was just so-so. The facility and staff were very kind and if you're looking for peace and tranquility, you'll definitely find it here. A pair of scarlet macaws kept us entertained as did iguanas and other birds.

Room Tip: Our room was room 7, just in front of the pool and a spectacular view of the ocean!

Spacey beautifully furnished and ample rooms, all wood with a kitchenette/bar, quality kitchen equipment, ample bathroom

Nice gardens, lots of birds and squirrels. Monkeys in the nearby woods with birding trails.

Excellent service and restaurant. Included breakfast is not american style nor buffet, but plenty enough with fruits, cereals, yogurt, juice, coffee and homemade bread.

One odd thing is that service vehicles cross straight through the gardens instead of using a back road.

Good silence rules and fast wifi.

Property is in front of the beach and has a river close where you can kayak on high tide.

A little toward the expensive side at USD 200 a night

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have better view but are more expensive.

Tambor Tropical Hotel at the NICOYA Peninsula,
Best Hotel & Restaurant, located among a unique Tropical Ambient” -
Tambor Tropical Hotel, is definitely a Tropical Jewel destination -
Natural protected by mangrove and coconuts palms, it seats at front of Tambor bay Beach. Once you're there, the place discovers it self, like a majestic Tropical Island.
Great accommodation's, great ocean and surf view and overall a great cuisine/drinks menu.
The food can be describe as simple but, majestic delicious. Among some incredible meals that we ordered, I remembered the Mark's Famous Shrimp Nachos, definitely addictive!
The restaurant bar service, the overall hospitality and the surrounds natural views were all there, like a musical marimba, enchanting the senses.
We definitely recommend stopping by and pamper yourself with a Costa Rica Tropical experience.
The Hotel is conveniently located near the Tambor municipal airport, great sleeping destination or the perfect restaurant stop if you are passing through.
Costa Rica offers a lot of different destination but, Tambor Tropical Hotel & Restaurant stands alone ! Welcome
