We originally booked to watch the test match in Galle, but this was called offf the day before we travelled. We discussed the current situation and decided to go based on the fact there had been only 1 recorded case of the virus on the island and that had been in January. The place is aa little tired and not as big as pictures seem it to be, bt that does not matter one bit.
The location is great, right on the beach and the stafff are fantastic. Rooms are spacious and cleaned every day. The food is very good with a reasonable choice for breakfast and evening meal,, we stayed half board as we tend to eat a snack at lunchtime.
Around 20 minutes by tuk tuk to the fort and lighthouse in Galle.
We had to cut the holiday short by 5 days due to thwe ongoing situation and the last 3 days we were curfewed in the hotel.
This was very traumatic, 32 degreee heat, unbroken sunshine, on the beach and they had r-stocked the bar before we went into lockdown.
We cant wait to go back :)

Dear 236pipm,

Thank you very much for your glowing 5 star review of Aqua!
Although we are sad you did not get to experience the cricket we hope that your stay with us made up for it.
We couldn't agree more - being nestled right on the beach, possibly all to yourself, with great cuisine and some refreshing beverages - Aqua is a truly traumatic place to be locked down in! Jokes aside, we are extremely glad that you managed to enjoy all of this that makes Aqua so special, especially during such tough times. Trust that Aqua is receiving all the care it needs as we get ready for a new season.
We hope that you and your loved ones are all well and safe as the world continues to endure the awful pandemic.
We hope to see you again one day soon!
Warm regards,
Cantaloupe Hotels

A quaint boutique resort, about 30 mins away from Galle town. Loved the quiet location, very peaceful and serene. The rooms are spacious, beautiful, overlooking the sea. Excellent service, very friendly and helpful. May not be ideal for families who need activities for kids, but great for people who want to just unwind. Had an awesome stay.

This was an amazing trip! There were so many highlights, to start with the accommodation was great and the view was amazing from the rooms, the food served at the hotel restaurant was lip smacking and the price was very low when compared to other restaurants near by. The crab curry served at the hotel was fantastic. The people at the hotel were really generous depicting Sri Lanka culture. To mention few employees at Cantaloupe Ranjit was an AMAZING host, he took care of us and was very attentive to the group and had us laughing always. It was an amazing experience that we as a family would always cherish. This hotel is highly recommended to families who want some personal space and there is no much crowd. The hotel is beautiful and the view from the room are breath taking.
Must visit place.

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding and it’s a lovely hotel right on the beach. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable - the only downside is the low shower pressure (not a deal breaker at all but something we noticed). The staff were friendly and helpful, always available to answer our questions. Would stay here again!

Stayed here for a night on tour round Sri Lanka and it was prob the least favourite. Smallest room we had, the decor is in need of some tlc, especially the bathroom. Strange set up with the toilet position and shower was just ok. They serve lunch and dinner here as well, but we only had breakfast, which was nice. The barman that was working on the night also served us breakfast and he was very helpful and friendly. Right on the beach, but not really accessible because of the rocks outside. It’s about 5k outside the nearest town but there are always tuk tuks outside which are very cheap. Maybe $2 each way.
