Good location, nice lobby, excellent view of the Fjord. We chose a Fjord view room but sent a separate request for the best view room because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Even though we received a not so friendly email respond but we were given the top floor room with nicest view at check-in. Nice pool and Jacuzzi. Breakfast was good.We enjoyed the hotel a lot.

Hotel staff can be a little friendlier, with smiles. Hotel rate is a little steep.

Room Tip: Fjord view room on top floor, middle section

The rooms were excellent with good beds and comfortable warms duvets and pillows. The breakfast was plentiful with a varied selection, quality was medium. Nice with free parking just outside the hotel and the people in the reception very helpful.

View from the hotel was spectacular with 2 big waterfalls, 1 five minutes up the road and the other 5 minutes down. Food/the big buffet was excellent too. We took a tour of the Troll road while at the hotel and Also a cruise on the fjord which was very scenic.

The hotel is located within walking distance from the dock and the commerce, cafes and restaurant. Everywhere around the hotel there was buses full of tourists. The road next to the hotel was heavily used by cars, trucks and vans. Noisy... What was surprising was that the SPA was located in such a way that the view was over the water and without a single car in sight. Coming to the spa early in the morning soon as opening was a pleasure because it was still quite empty and breakfast was served. I did not get any treatments so I cannot say if those are good or not.
It was possible to walk from the hotel up to restaurant Västeraas through the forest and from there continue out to a selection of walking paths both uphill and along the mountain to some viewpoints. As the dock was within walking distance it was also possible to go down there and have a coffee and buy souvenirs. In overall my stay here was good although next time I will instead choose one of the hotels higher up to avoid the crowd as there seam to be taxis available to fair prices.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the fjord for a good view

The hotel enjoys having that extra level of standard, which comes with a higher than comparable price, and more again if you want a fjord view, but you can enjoy the view from the very comfortable and huge bar & lounge setting.

I indulged in their buffet dinner, and as reviewed elsewhere, it was very good, albeit the waiters were a bit too quick cleaning up. Got the impression that going for a second plate of something was not encouraged; perhaps it was just that one waiter, but...

Also note that tour buses use this hotel, and a quiet dining can change quickly as "the bus" arrives. still handled better than similar tour group hotels I have stayed at.

Breakfast buffet (included in the room rate) was not as good as the dinner, but adequate.

Geiranger is a special place with a lot of beauty, and the Hotel Union is a comfortable choice
