Fantastic visit

Review of La Guillotiere
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Jul 2016
My fiancée and I had the pleasure of staying with Anne and Sean at La Guillotiere for a week during our visit to the Loire valley. We travel to France every year and both especially loved our time here.

We stayed in the Bernard Shaw room which was large and had an en suit. The room was outstanding in terms of comfort and cleanliness. The room had plenty of space for us to unpack our clothes and settle in after a long journey.

The hosts at La Guillotiere had excellent local wine which my fiancée and I both found ourselves enjoying most evenings by the pool. As an added bonus Anne and Sean had a very lovable Labrador called Bran who always, as it turned out welcomed a good pat on the head.

One of my favourite places to go whilst staying at La Guillotiere was the local French café, Café du Centre close by in Esvres. The café sold small beers and wines and was a great place to sit outside and watch the world go by. Esvres and the surrounding cafes etc are a drive away so a car would be recommended.

The breakfast was excellent as prepared by Sean each morning and purchased fresh from one of the two local bakeries.

We both had a lovely time during our visit here and cannot wait to return next summer!

Ann and Sean welcomed us warmly to their lovely B&B in Esvres in the Loire Valley. The B&B is tucked away from busy centres in the Loire, but well situated to explore the beautiful castles and chateaus.

The room was large, spotless and comfortable. Breakfast which is included in the rate was excellent (although some cold meats would have been great to cut through all the wonderful pastries). There was a range of pastries, cereals, cheese and wonderful pastries, some made by Ann herself very early in the morning.

I would love to return to this B&B in the height of summer when I would be able to enjoy the lovely pool and surrounding gardens and do some walking in the surrounding countryside.

The B&B also has an outside kitchen area which is available for use by guests, which I imagine would be most useful in summer if one would like to barbeque.

A lovely peaceful stay and a wonderful place to return to after busy days exploring The Loire and all it has to offer.

Our stay at La Guillotiere was wonderful. Sean and Anne were wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and very quiet. The breakfasts were delicious with several choices, including fresh fruit salad, granola, yogurt, French bread and fresh pastries daily. Anne made dinner reservations for us in a nearby village.....and it was excellent!! There were many beautiful areas/castles to visit in the region within a 20 - 25 minute drive away.......Amboise, Chenonceau, and Loches, to mention a few.
Since this B & B is in a quiet, rural area, a car is required.
We certainly enjoyed our stay at La Guillotiere and would highly recommend it!!

Room tip: I'm sure all the rooms are equally beautiful and quiet.

My husband and I plus 4 other extended family members stayed with Ann and Sean for 5 nights this September. We were attending a wedding in the area. Our stay was perfect. Ann and Sean are gracious hosts! We had quite a few changes, questions and details to iron out prior to our arrival and Ann was quick to respond and extremely helpful! Her dinner suggestions were spot on. The breakfast selection and presentation was superb. We also visited two local vineyards of her suggestion and thoroughly enjoyed them.
The grounds are beautiful and my daughter enjoyed visiting the sheep and horses along the long driveway. There is a guest kitchen that was great for preparing snacks and chilling wine that we had bought, and then enjoying by the pool. Oh and to top it all off, it is a great value.
Many thanks to Ann and Sean for making our trip memorable. I would definately return here in a heartbeat.

Room tip: We had the Yeats room, which was big enough to add a twin for my daughter. It was nice that our bath facility was broken up into two rooms. One held a toilet and sink, the other was a spacious tub/shower/sink room. It worked very well for three of us.

We used La Guillotiere as our base for touring the Loire Valley. It's located close enough to everywhere we wanted to visit. The building is lovely, as are the grounds (and pool) and the hosts, Ann and Sean were very warm and welcoming. All of Ann's recommendations were excellent, be it places to eat for vegetarians (a definite problem in France), places to visit, and which son et lumiere is the most worthwhile. The breakfasts were huge and delicious - with home made jams - we had no room for lunch later on! The kitchenette and fridge were very useful so we could picnic in the evening. Great value, and would definitely recommend it to any friends looking to visit the Loire. Thank you Ann and Sean!

Sean and Anne were excellent hosts, and made me and my husband and 2 year old daughter feel very welcome. There was access to a cot and a high chair, and our family room was spacious and comfortable. We all loved the delicious breakfasts. There was also access to a small kitchen, which meant we could cook up a small pasta or similar for our daughter when needed or prepare some snacks to take out with us. We could also use the main kitchen in the morning to heat up milk for my daughters porridge. There is a nice long drive way with sheep and horses to go and see, plus a very nice garden area. The house itself has a special something about it, and I am happy that we all had the opportunity to stay in it. Many thanks for a lovely stay.
