I have stayed here in 2016 and 2017 ski seasons. The hotel is well placed, about a 8 min walk from the town centre, and has good facilities. It isn't that typical of Austrian ski hotels. One advantage is the number of single rooms available - good for solo travellers. The major eating option is a buffet with the option of free beer and wine (the beer and red wine are ok, the less said about the white the better), food is plentiful and a good varied menu, sometimes themed. Breakfast is equally substantial.
Staff have always been helpful with lift passes and transport arrangements as well as issues to do with the hotel. Potential for a shuttle transfer from the local train station.
If you come to Bad Hofgastein to ski you will have to take buses to the lift stations - the Palace is very well sited for the bus, about 10 meters away, and the bus to the slopes comes here pretty empty so easy to get on in the morning.
The spa has a swimming pool area, and an Austrian mixed wellness area with saunas etc. Also a separate beauty treatment area which I don't need but have had good reports from friends. The hotel is also about a 8 min walk to the very large AlpinTherme spa.
I do find the ski storage and boot heaters a bit ad hoc and below a 4* rating.
The size of the hotel does attract coach parties who can sometimes be inadvertently noisy in the pool.
However I have always had a good nights sleep at the hotel.
