We were glad we had booked for dinner on a Sunday evening as the restaurant was full. Staff very efficient, hard working and friendly. Massive choice on the menu, plus specials board. Prices for both food and drink reasonable, can highly recommend, we will definitely visit again.

We were staying in Arisaig and asked a local for a recommendation for lunch in nearby Mallaig. The Steam Inn is so called because the Jacobite Steam Train visits Mallaig twice daily during the tourist season and this restaurant is a popular venue for passengers wishing to have lunch before the return journey to Fort William.

The consequence of course is that from 12.30pm till 2.00pm the place is packed out and probably best avoided till after then if possible. We arrived soon after 2.00 pm and enjoyed a warm welcome, good service and delicious food. The hand dived scallops were much smaller than expected, given the whoppers that can be purchased from a local fish van, but delicious none the less.

Don't be put off by the lime green painted exterior of the building ! The inside of the restaurant is modern and comfortable and we will be happy to go back on our next visit to this beautiful part of Scotland.

The draw of a warm log fire on a cool Spring day tempted us in, and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by a roaring fire, a cheery waitress, and a good menu. The food, both fresh fish dishes, were both superb! This little Scottish pub could rival seafood restaurants anywhere in the world. Bravo!
