I would never have found this hotel if I did not have a business meeting in the area, last summer. My nephew booked two rooms, and though in the height of the tourist season, the hotel was virtually deserted. This small hotel is very well maintained, with friendly, helpful staff, and spacious clean rooms, with TV. Bedding is changed daily, and a very adequate, if not spectacular buffet breakfast is included in the modest price. Lamporecchio, a nondescript, working-class town, is only about 45 minutes drive from Florence airport, and 20 mins. from the touristic centre of Vinci, with all its connections to the great artist and scientist, Leonardo. The town has a functional weekly outdoor market, a good supermarket, and the Hotel Antico Masetto, as other reviewers have said, is well recommended as a reasonably priced and convenient base for exploring Tuscany by car: don't miss the beautiful hill-town of Montecatini Alto. Hotel Antico Masetto is connected to an excellent restaurant up the street, also the 'Antico Masetto'. We had excellent 'Florentine steak' and mouth-watering pasta with truffles there.
