Owner description: Skellig Michael Cruises offers you the opportunity to visit Skellig Michael from a unique perspective. Many people who come to Portmagee are unable to climb Skellig Michael for a variety of reasons; young families, age, disability or time constraints etc. This is where we come in! Our eco tour circles both islands where you get up close to see the land marks, birds and historical sites. Skellig Michael Cruises are now pleased to announce from 2017 that we also do Landing Tours to Skellig Michael.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access

After experiencing the 660+ step climb to the top of this mountain, you can truly understand why Abrams selected Skellig Michael for the concluding scenes of "Star Wars VII, The Force Awakens." Pictures and words cannot adequately describe the shear magnitude or beauty of this special place, nor the journey to reach its summit. The journey is not for the faint of heart, but the final destination will leave you in awe.

Paul Devane, his family and crew do an excellent job running their Skellig Michael Cruises. They were extremely courteous, efficient and safe throughout the entire journey, especially upon our arrival to the island, where the choppy seas added a bit of challenge to stepping off / back onto the boat. Everyone was taken care of dutifully and safely.

The trip to the island was choppy, but a no fault of the captain. It's just the nature of the seas. The trip home was a bit smoother and the brief stop along the shores of the smaller island provided spectacular views of both Skelligs and the hundreds of thousands of seagulls, puffins, and other birds that dotted the islands and skies. It was almost something out of a Hitchcock movie.

Keep an eye on the yearly calendar as the landing cruises are limited (due to tighter government regulations) and general sea conditions. But if you can reserve a summer landing cruise, it will be the journey of a lifetime and a bit "out of this world."

So on the way back to port, after slowly circling the Skelligs, I went inside the wheelhouse just to sit done a bit more comfortably. The captain turned at least three times to ask me if I was ok. I was but appreciated his concern, assuming he would show the same to others who really may have been in distress. Just one mark of safety in action.

We were lucky that day as the seas, although not calm, were only about 2-3 feet and thus fairly smooth going. It was also beautifully clear and sunny. So thousands of birds were circling and feeding. And a few intrepid explorers could be seen scaling the cliffs to the top of Skellig Michael.

All in all, one terrific morning.

Even though the swell was pretty big we had a great time going out to the Islands. Once there the birdlife was amazing. Well worth the Euro 35 per head

Booked this trip a while before we arrived in Ireland and all was great with the website booking. Unfortunately the day of my booking was cancelled due to bad weather however I was moved onto the next day. As others have said this trip is not for anyone that suffers from seasickness!! as I don't suffer I had a brilliant time Shay and the team looked after us and even had to rescue a fellow seaman on the return journey. Make sure you wrap up well and take waterproofs :-) amazing trip - never to be forgotten - thanks all.

I reserved to travel with this company, making my reservation back in March to be certain of getting to the island and on a boat that had a cover and bathroom. Because the prior weekend they were not allowed to land on the island and they had a boat down they moved people to our weekend. As a result we were booted off their boat and put on a less appointed boat (no cover/bathroom). No communication at all as to what was going on and why were not allowed on the boat we reserved. We did make it to the island which was the highlight of our trip but we were very disappointed in how we were treated. Two of our group wouldn't make the trip because of the situation. At the end of the trip the captain we did travel with requested cash, which we did not have enough of, as we were planning on paying with our credit card. He sent us to the post office/general store but to get cash there you have spend an additional 10 euro to get cash back. It was ridiculous. We even tried to pay this company and have them pay the extra boat they hired but they wouldn't help us out at all. We ended up giving the captain all the euros we had plus some US dollars. We were mishandled all around.
