We stayed here for one night and loved it. The view from the front of the house is beautiful (see photo). The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The owner is a lovely woman also. The breakfast was amazing, she makes sure her guests don't leave hungry. Highly reccommend staying here if you are planning on staying in this area.

It is difficult to find more superlatives for this place when other reviewers have so eloquently stated the beauty and charm of this B&B. Sitting on a hill overlooking the ocean surrounded by peace and quiet, you will be lulled into a wonderful state of relaxation. We stayed two nights but I would happily have stayed longer.
The host, Mary, is delightful and a pleasure to chat with. She arranged our trip to Skellig Michael, and skipper Micky Joe got us there and back safe and sound.

Other reviewers have stated that it is a 5 min walk to the village. It is more like 15 mins, but we didn't mind. Good meal at the Bridge Bar pub.

Thank you so Mary for a memorable visit!

Spent 4 peaceful nights at this great little B&B located in an area which is one of only 4 places in the world designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve (NO LIGHT POLLUTION! ). My room was clean, the bed very comfortable and I woke up every morning to a beautiful view of Portmagee Channel and Valentia Island from my window. Mary, my hostess, was just so welcoming, cheerful and upbeat. I was instantly made to feel at home (greeting me as if I were a long lost friend! ). Had a full Irish breakfast every morning including the best porridge I've ever had. Mary also offered me a cup of delicious coco made with real milk every night. You should spend a few days here and absorb the REAL Ireland! It's a great place for walking: Bolus Head, Ballinskelligs, and St. Finians Bay. I explored Valentia Island and the dinosaur footprints. My trip to the Skelligs was an experience I'll never forget. And I couldn't leave without taking a swim in the crystal clear, clean and cold water at Reen strand. The village is only a 5 minute walk and you can buy the fixings for lunch at the Post office shop. An excellent and reasonably priced dinner at the two pubs. I had the most peaceful and relaxing time ever and felt so good about my stay that my next door neighbors have already booked for September. Calafonts room rates were the best deal I got in Ireland. I will be back!

First, the location: Calafont enjoys one of the most beautiful spots in all Kerry: overlooking the Portmagee channel and spectacular Bray Head on Valentia island, at walking distance from pristine secluded small Reencahera beach, at walking distance from the port, the restaurants, the post office … but as quiet as can be…
The breakfast lounge overlooks the afore-mentioned spectacular channel and it is so nice to see the boats going out at sea while enjoying breakfast.
Second, Mary treats you with the warmest welcome, with a breakfast that could be qualified as “a la carte”, and moves heaven & earth to help you find any possible activities you may want in the area; she knows it all and is always eager to provide advice and anticipates guests’ wishes to go to the Skelligs when the boats that travel to rocks are very busy .
The bedrooms, in pale shade relaxing colors, match the spotless bathroom and the bed is utterly comfortable.
For those reasons and others, Calafont is second to none and, for us, THE place to stay when travelling County Kerry and the South West, and to bring our friends along. Eileen, Belgium
