I stayed here with friends for a couple of nights last summer. It was perfect for our budget as we were looking to save money on a room and spend it elsewhere (restaurants, shopping, nightlife). The hotel is centrally located at the marina with a wonderful view of the ocean and the buzzing action below. The hotel is old but quaint. The rooms appeared renovated with all basic amenities. This is a small, family owned, no frills establishment that allows you to enjoy all that the village offers without breaking the bank. In addition, the owner told us about access to a hotel pool at another location, but who needs the pool when you have a beach within walking distance?? Overall, I would recommend this to travelers on a budget because you don't visit Greece to be stuck in a resort...

We had driven down from Agios Nikolaos having visited the beautiful Amari Valley.....arriving in the village quite late, we were exhausted and this was the first place we saw with vacancies....the room was an OK size but the bathroom was quite small, lovely view across the harbor - all we wanted was somewhere to wash change and sleep for the night and that's exactly what we got :-) all for 26 euros for the night, for us both !!....a bargain...not sure what other people expect to get for 26 euros...we were happy with our choice.

We have stayed here in October 2005 and now in November 2011, same room, same old lady. If you expect the average hotel standard, You are really in for a let down. It is more like a Youth Hostel, small room with a double bed + one extra, small bathroom with shower in the corner, fridge, TV, AC and small stove to do the most basic cooking.
Yes, the bathroom still stank like the innards of public sewers and the owners washing was still there. The washing disappeared next morning and the smell turned out to be caused by a malfunctioning water lock in the bathroom floor drain. soaking a roll of toilet paper in water and placing it over the drain fixed the problem. The water is heated by solar panels, so when the weather is cloudy, You will probably have very little of it.The room however, was freshly painted and the bedding was clean.
Now for the things that makes it all worthwhile. The place literally sits on top of the waterfront restaurants with a panoramic view of the harbour and the Libyan Sea. Although there are 3 rooms in a row, in the winter You are likely (like us) to have the area in front of the rooms all to Yourself. Watching the sun rise over the distant mountains behind the Messara Plain when the town is still asleep is really something.

The nastiest, smelliest place we have ever stayed - with a stunning location right on the harbour front, overlooking the bay, it should have been fantastic. We were lured in by the position, tried not to be put off by the slightly deranged owner and fell for the ludicrously cheap price of 20 euros a night (October, end of season - not the bargain it seemed at first, other decent rooms available at that price locally). We made the basic mistake of not checking the room out first - what a dingy, dirty dump it was. The 'bathroom' (ie cupboard in the corner of the room) was rank - it smelt like a kennel, and I stupidly spent time on my hands and knees pouring boiling water down the drain hole to see if that would improve things, when what I should have been doing was hightailing it out of there.

A fantastic view - the only thing in its favour - was, however, not improved by the owner's washing flapping unceremoniously across it - dingy old bras, pants with holes in them - not the most glamourous of starts to a morning. What made it somehow even more depressing was that it was left out throughout the most persistent rainstorms Crete has seen in years. It was never going to dry, never going to be taken in.

It has a shocking reputation locally as the worst of the worst, and quite deservedly so. I like to save a penny of two, but after two nights (two nights! Why did we stay more than two minutes? I honestly don't know...) we fled, happy to pay another 10 euros a night and go somewhere clean. With a shower. That doesn't smell like a kennel.
