Every once in awhile we visit some place for the first time, but feel like we have known about it for years. Such was our experience with this lovely little property. Atilla drove into Fethiye to pick us up at the bus depot, and we had been with him only minutes before we were completely charmed by this personable and knowledgeable man. By the time we had stopped to pick up their daughter from school and arrived in the drive way, we already were feeling like part of the family. An introduction to the delightful Jeanne completed the transaction.

Rooms in this small hotel are plain and simple, but they are immaculately clean, comfortable and exceptionally quiet. Activity at the hotel centers around the lovely pool, with its own bar, cabana and glassed in room that can be open to the outside if the weather is good, or heated by fireplace for chilly days.

Meals at Villa Rhapsody should be an entirely different category. There is nothing typical about the food. Breakfast can start with bacon and eggs and freshly squeezed orange juice. For those of us who had been in Turkey nearly a month and were in serious pork withdrawal, breakfast was a feast!

Jeanne prepares a gourmet meal each and every evening, and I would not miss one of them. She makes personal inquiries about guest preferences. One evening she prepared a delicious lamb dish, but made a separate chicken dish for my husband, who does not care for lamb. (He did not seem to mind Jeanne's lamb as he ate part of mine).

Atilla seems to spend his time focusing on the personal needs of each and every guest. Jeanne, who is cooking for twenty plus people two to three times a day, still finds time to have a relaxing conversation with you on the deep front porch of the inn. In spite of managing this hotel nearly on their own, both Atilla and Jeanne have an aura of calm about them that rather rubs off on everyone.

I have rarely been more relaxed than I was during our stay at Villa Rhapsody. We were motivated to visit this area after reading Birds Without Wings. Jeanne and Atilla made sure that we had the opportunity to visit the empty village of Kayakoy, and they also delivered us to a lovely beach with numerous trails to explore.

It seemed as if every other guest at the hotel had been there many times before and there was an instant family feel with these familiar faces. Each morning adventures were discussed and each evening experiences were re-counted. We lingered with a drink well after dinner was complete visiting with Atilla and Jeanne and their guests.

Our stay at Villa Rhapsody resulted in a complete restoration of our energy and enthusiasm, and prepared us for a return to the busy city of Istanbul.

Our only disappointment was that we did not spend many more days at this lovely hotel. We hope to change that with our next visit, but I suspect one must make early reservations because there is a huge amount of repeat business with former guests returning to experience the delight of Villa Rhapsody.

Villa Rhapsody is set in a pretty garden ten minutes walk from the historic ruined village of Kaya. The two-story hotel has 16 ensuite rooms with showers. The strengths of the Villa Rhapsody are the attractive pool area and also its hardworking owners Attila and Jeanne.

But our room was disappointingly spartan, with a grubby stained carpet and a 'double' bed barely big enough for two. Instead of a top sheet there was just a rough bedspread which hardly covered us. We slept very badly and were grateful we were only staying two nights.

Although cooked and served with care, the evening meals were far from filling. For breakfast we would have preferred a buffet to the single meagre serving of bread, tomatoes and cheese.

The hotel makes a good starting point for the walk through the abandoned village over the ridge to Olu Deniz. Apart from that, the location of the Villa Rhapsody has few obvious advantages.

We are quite surprised to read that Mr. Rentaquotes disliked a few parts of his stay with us, and we regret that he did not talk to us while he was staying with us.

For the readers involved this does give the wrong information about generally Turkish habits and about us as well, so I would like to use this opportunity to explain a few things.

First of all the bedding; in Turkey summers are hot, for that reason there is a 'piket', this is not a bed spread, but a cotton, sometimes decorated, thicker bed sheet. A second top-sheet is not used. We do have a few customers who prefer a top sheet, they ask for it and we put it on their beds.

The size of all the double beds is 1.90 to 1.40, not a small size bed but standard size. All the beds have new matrasses. I find it a bit embarrassing to show a picture of a bed that has been slept in and not as how people find it nicely made on their arrival.

We do never pretend nor claim to be a 5 star hotel but we are a pension.

Then the breakfast. We serve breakfast outside on the platform near the pool. It is correct that we do not serve a buffet, personally I dislike buffets as the food stands outside for at least 2 hours.

So we have an extend breakfast menu, anyone can order anything to their liking and that is served to their table. Also fresh filter coffee and tea are served to the table. Next to the regular white bread we have always brown bread. If there was cheese and tomato brought to the table then that is what is ordered (problably a Turkish breakfast that includes salami, cucumber and olives as well).
We serve eggs in any variety from boiled to poached, yoghurt with or without fresh fruits, fruits of the season, corn flakes, muesli, and even for those who miss their home country there is bacon.

Dinner is based on an every day changing menu, we always consult the guests if they like to eat in or prefer to go out. We tell them our suggestions for the evening and if they prefer something else that is even never too much trouble, but usually it goes easy and we only need to offer a second option for a main course.

Dinner comes with a starter, salad, main course with either rice, pasta or potatoes and always a side dish with vegetables and a dessert.

Mr. Rentaquote is one of our few guests who did not book straight with us but came through an agent who organizes walks in the area.
If there are vegetarians or other diets amongst these guests we always hear that before hand. But as their arrivals are usually sometime in the afternoon, the menu is already set and preparations might have started. We surely did check if they agreed on the menu and they did.
Also we did not hear that any insufficient food was brought to the table. We are more used to people asking for half portions as they say our full dinners are too much for them.

I do keep a record of what is cooked on every day, so I do know what Mr. Rentaquote did eat on his 2 evenings with us, but I do not think it is necessary to quote that here. There were also about 30 people around to witness that the meal was sufficient.

I have to be grateful for the few compliments though, and criticism is there to see if we can do to improve, but if we do not hear directly then that is a real shame especially as the criticism is based on wrong perception.

Thank you for your time.

Again, it is a real shame that we did not hear of any inconvenience, if so we could have immediately corrected where required. As Mr Rentaquote did ask for beach towels, we immediately supplied them without charge.

We stayed 4 nights at the Villa Rhapsody in September and had a marvelous time. If we ever return to Turkey, this would be the reason why.

The best thing is the hosts. They are both charming and helpful. Ever ready to answer your questions and give you tips. Breakfast was very good but was easily beaten but the excellent dinner. We do indeed recommend having dinner on the site, sometimes you even get to pick what is served!
There is both a computer for public use as well as wifi.

The only two minuses we can think of were that the rooms themselves were a bit worn and would have benefited from more decoration. However, this is not the kind of hotel were you spend your days in the room. Second is that though the hotel is far from the hotel areas it is still a very touristy part of Turkey. The neighboring village is full of tourists and nothing else.

They have cats and a dog running around adding to the charm of the hotel. The pool is nice but as said before; the hospitality is what makes this a great place. All in all we are very happy to recommend this place!

We have been travelling to Turkey since the early 90s, to various areas spending lots of our time arond the Fethye area.WhileVisiting the village of Kaya Koy a few years ago we stumbled on the Villa Rhapsody. We where walking to the bay Atilla kindly invited us to have a drink When we left Atilla gave us a card with all the details on Not thinking any more about it we carried on our journey.Circumstances changed for us .We decided to contact the Villa Rhapsody. Staight away a reply came giving us all the details We have just returned from the Villa Rhapsody Having been going for four years. To us it is Simply the Best a Magical find. Atilla & Jeanne give 100% of them selvesto each and every guest. Nothing is ever to much trouble. They both go out of their way to make sure the holiday is one you will always remember. Jeannes cooking is amazing, 3 course dinner each evening round the pool area by candle light Every thing the Villa has to offer is 100% Thats why we return, There is know where that has the qualities of the Villa Rhapsody. Atilla & Jeanne are such genuine people. They make you feel you are part of a big family, due to the warming tranquil welcoming atmosphere they embrace We are dreaming of our next holiday at the Villa Rhapsody

I´m just back from 9 days in Villa Rhapsody in Kayaköy and it was a wonderful time.
The hotel has 15 rooms with balcony, my room was very clean and airy, the bed was comfortable and even when it was hot during the day the room was not too hot and you could use a fan if you needed it.
You get fresh towels and bed-linen twice the week or more and fresh soap as often you need it.
The view from my balcony into the garden and up to the mountains was gorgeous. There is a lovely well-looked-after garden with a pool area and a lot of plants and flowers.
In the evening you can take your dinner at tables around the pool, close to the pool bar, illuminated by candles, very romantique.

But the best of all have been our hosts Jeanne and Atilla with their sweet little daughter Lara. They gave me the feeling of beeing at home, warmhearted and hospitable. As I was travelling on my own they invited me to take my dinner together with them at their table and they let me share a bit of their family life.
Jeanne is responsible for administration tasks and cooking and Atilla is the "entertainer".
He is always trying to arrange trips and sightseeings for his guests, gives needful advices and and has a good sense of humor.
The dinners were fantastique, Jeanne is an excellent cook and we had very delicious meals, not only the usual kebabs but very special turkish dishes. And sometimes she asks her guests what they would like to eat.
The guests are often regulars, from all parts of the world, like a little Babylon.

The surrounding is rural and atmospherique, you can walk along very pitoresque small alleys or you can go to some nice beaches, as for example Gemiler Beach.
But is it also easy going to the more tourist places as Hisarönü and Oludeniz or to the nice residental town Fethiye.

If you don´t need luxury and "hully gully" but if you like a comfortable stay in an authentique place I cannot recommend this hidden gem highly enough!
You will spend an unforgettable time.
