We couldn't have asked for a better place to explore Tuscany. The room was clean and bed was extremely comfortable. The green space allowed our daughter to run around and was a perfect spot for breakfast every morning. Dina's recommendations on what what to see, do and eat were all fantastic. If your looking for a home away from home, look no further.

Originally we were to head straight to Montepulciano but I was worried about driving in the dark(and that was a good decision not to) so I booked a room for one night in Montalcino, since we are fans of Brunello. We chose Porta Castellana and what a great choice it was. First of all, as others have said, Annalisa is the perfect host. Great personality, full of good suggestions. Our room was great, good sized bathroom which is important to me and they deliver a delicious breakfast to your room in the morning. Walkable to the town center as long as you don’t mind hills and steps. It was classic Italian and we loved it.

We stayed (one adult and two teenagers from Los Angeles) for 4 nights at Porta Castellana and could not be more pleased. Dida (Anna-Lisa) is a superb owner and, upon our request, provided us with restaurant recomendations (where the locals prefer to eat) in Montalcino and Siena, provided insights on what to see/what to skip on our day trips (with maps) and assisted in coordinating visits to an olive oil producer and wine tastings. Breakfasts were tasty and enjoyed in the garden.

We had two rooms and the mattresses were great and we had excellent sleeps. Shower is small, but water pressure/temps are excellent.

Be in (or get into) shape...the walk to the local restaurants requires a reasonably steep climb, but it was certainly worth it.

Just an excellent experience. .

Anna-Lisa was the perfect hostess - very helpful in local tourist destinations, wineries & restaurants - even booked them for us. The most comfortable/soft bed of our trip so far. Nice, Italian breakfast every morning. Follow her directions on how to get to Porta Castellana - the GPS often gets lost in these narrow one-way streets. Great Restaurants in town, and excellent wineries nearby.

I wanted to stay here a few years ago but it was full so I was pleased to be able to stay this time. The title says it all, beautiful rooms, efficient air conditioning, thankfully as it was very hot, nice and peaceful garden to sit in and a good breakfast on the patio.
