We stayed (one adult and two teenagers from Los Angeles) for 4 nights at Porta Castellana and could not be more pleased. Dida (Anna-Lisa) is a superb owner and, upon our request, provided us with restaurant recomendations (where the locals prefer to eat) in Montalcino and Siena, provided insights on what to see/what to skip on our day trips (with maps) and assisted in coordinating visits to an olive oil producer and wine tastings. Breakfasts were tasty and enjoyed in the garden.
We had two rooms and the mattresses were great and we had excellent sleeps. Shower is small, but water pressure/temps are excellent.
Be in (or get into) shape...the walk to the local restaurants requires a reasonably steep climb, but it was certainly worth it.
Just an excellent experience. .More
