This is a place we will revisit. For an all-inclusive week on a Greek island with beach over the road and history round the corner, it is hard to think of anywhere better. Let’s not get into a discussion about what ‘5 Star’ might really mean. At the end of the day, it is cracking value.
First impressions count for a lot and the first sight of the Mitsis Grand is encouraging. A turn off the main coast road takes you into a pull-up area with a long bluish-white building facing you and a wide impressive entranceway into an equally wide and cool lobby. The reception area is in front of you and the main parts of the hotel radiate outward. To the left, restaurants and shop, ahead the gardens and lifts, to the right, desks and a pool.
Our room was on the first floor. Large and spacious, roughly 18 by 12, and with a double French window leading out to a balcony with reasonable space for a table and a couple of chairs. Plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space, all in all I counted 14 drawers and four shelves. The bed was rather low for my taste but comfortable enough. The floor was carpeted rather than the usual large tiles to be found in most Mediterranean hotels. The impression was somewhat dented, as was the floor, by what felt like rough excavation with poor filling under the carpet. A bit like walking across a carpeted beach. A kettle with two good size mugs, small well-stocked fridge and small TV were useful additions.
The bathroom seemed incongruous. A good size but strangely configured. A narrow bath with a single shower curtain looked like it was try to hide unnoticed against one wall. I’ve not seen bath fittings like these since a 1980’s IBIS hotel and the big brown box hairdryer was reminiscent of a 1990’s Sheraton. Most fittings were askew but everything worked. Perhaps the strangest thing was the lack of any shelf or unit. The bedroom had 14 drawers and many flat surfaces but in the bathroom, no storage at all.
The food was good. A big range of items in every buffet and plenty of alternative eating venues for a bit of variety. We tried the Italian Restaurant on a couple of occasions and enjoyed both. The entertainment in the outdoor area was like all such offerings - good in parts, but did not offend or go on too long. A few more seats would have helped and dancers were frustrated at a lack of space for them but the tone was generally warm and friendly. This is not an ‘Adults Only’ place so cute kids in the dining room can be pesky when they want to join the entertainment.
Good things about the hotel? Great location, an easy walk into the port and the old town. If you like sea swimming, rather than a communal pool, the Aegean is just over the road! A small pebbly beach but the sea is great. The staff is universally friendly. Even when under pressure they remain smiling, helpful and courteous.
Poor things? Little of any real substance. The hotel can get very busy at times and service in the restaurants, bars and reception areas consequentially strained but one learns to adapt. We managed to avoid too many insect bites but some people were obviously less fortunate. The free Wi-Fi in public areas was just about useable but threw you out at intermittent intervals.
Would we go back? Like a shot! We were on an all-inclusive package which represented good value for money when compared with other European competitors and would/will happily do the same again.

We stayed at the Mitsis Grand from the 4thMay to the 12th from the moment we arrived nothing was to much trouble, the staff were excellent and polite. a good thing to know we took my 87year old mother who is disabled they always found somewhere to park the car or parked it for us and left keys a reception. The restaurant manager and staff were all very attentive a very special thank you to Popi our waitress. all the restaurants are excellent, we have been several times before but it was refreshing to see we had excellent entertainment every night.. i would also like to say Dona in guest relations could not do enough to make our stay excellent.the in room refrigeraters where stocked with soft drinks and beer most days . the rooms cleaned daily to a high standard.Thank you every one for an excellent holiday

Visited this hotel in late April, room was initially disappointing due to the lack of view but we were moved after 3 days. The rooms were very clean and the hotel was spotless, pools are salt water which wasn’t an issue and there were plenty of sunbeds available.
Entertainment was good with live acts rather than animation teams trying to supply it. The a la carte restaurants on site included a Chinese and an Italian which were both excellent, there is also a burger and pitta, Mexican and Greek restaurants around the pool which we visited and the quality is excellent. As well as this there are fresh pizzas being made during the day around the pool as well as a creperie which also serves ice cream. The Hotel is situated a short walk from Rhodes town and there are nice bars and restaurants scattered around the area. Overall a great place to go and would definitely book again.

We visited the Mitais Grand in Rhodes in September 2017 for our silver wedding. The service from the staff from start to finish was great. The food was lovely with lots of choice. The restaurant manager certainly had his finger on the pulse with all the staff being briefed before the restaurant opened for the evening. They have several restaurants to eat in. We went all inclusive. Would definitely recommend.

Just back from our second visit to this lovely hotel. Everything about it is excellent - the rooms are large and clean with loads of space for clothes, the bathrooms too are very nice with a good, powerful shower and plenty of hot water; the several restaurants serve excellent food and someone escorts you to a table so you don't have to search for one yourself. You can go to the speciality restaurants as often as you wish though you have to book for the Asian and Italian. The gardens and pool areas are lovely and there are plenty of sunbeds so no need to get up at the crack of dawn in order to get one! The evening entertainment is very good too and well attended. We didn't go to any of the daytime sports and entertainment but it looked good fun. The staff are the nicest we have ever come across - every single one of them is so friendly and eager to please. This is no ordinary all-inclusive hotel, it is the best we have stayed in and we've stayed in lots. Can't recommend it highly enough and we'll definitely be going back.
