We spent three nights here during our trip south and loved everything about the hotel. I have to admit that we discovered the hotel from the Martin Walker Inspector Bruno books; finding that the hotel was in fact a real place meant it had, for us, to be the only place to say in the Dordogne.
From our lovely warm welcome by front of house staff, to the sublime gastronomic dinner we had on our second night, everything was special. We think the dinner was possibly one of the best we have experienced; the food was sublime and the candle lit atmosphere on the terrace just lovely. My wife does not eat any sort of meat but this was not an issue for this hotel (unlike others we have experienced in France!). We also ate two nights in the hotel bistro in the village; a very reasonably priced restaurant, very relaxed with again excellent food.
The hotel is beautifully situated, very atmospheric and we would love to return for a winter stay and enjoy the log fires and the very cosy leather arm chaired bar for an aperitif before dinner.
What a restful, lovely experience - makes 2 weeks self isolation back in the UK all worthwhile!More
