Aranui Cave is one of the shorter tours available for a medium sized groups. Our guide Steven seemed a little relaxed at first but turned out to be a cool and resourceful guy. We saw a couple of baby wetas so can hardly count that one down but cave itself is very nice place with heaps of stalactites, stalagmites etc. I ain’t an expert on caves and haven’t seen many either but as a true city boy I did like the tour. The only thing that was a little annoying were are guide-mates, among others we had a large family with kids who (as is normal) had trouble keeping their attention and rather spent their time jumping and stomping on metal walk, yelling etc. I know they were kids but somehow you want to enjoy the peacefulness of the place...

This cave is smaller than the Ruakuri cave and has no glow worms but was still worth the visit. There are some great limestone structures to see there and plenty of good photo ops because there is a bit more light. Highly recommend also doing the short natural bridge walking track that starts from nearby while there.

This was the last of our caves for the day and even though it is smaller than Ruakuri and didn't have the glow worms it was still interesting. Recommend going to all 3 caves so you can really experience the difference in this wonderful underground.

Our Aranui tour (2.30 PM, 11.7.18) guide was 10 minutes late and poorly presented. He seemed bored and his spiel was minimal and with zero flair. Whole trip was about half an hour, instead of the 1 hour allowed on official website. No cave wetas as per website. The cave itself was awesome, but expected more from the guide for what we paid. I felt embarrassed for those there who weren't kiwi.

Hi , and thank you for taking the time to place feedback. We apologise that you felt the guide and service wasn't up to standard and we will pass on your feedback to ensure a great experience for future visitors. Each of our caves have unique qualities. Ruakuri has the most compelling subterranean experiences, and Aranui Cave offers the most beautiful collection of stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and decorative formations. If you are after even more diversity you should visit The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co to abseil underground into the caves, zipline, float down underground rivers and get up close with the glowworms.

This cave is smaller than Ruakuri cave but still is as good. The guide makes it interesting. The slower pace gives more photo opportunities. Visit all 3 caves to make the experience complete.
