This park is about the Incan culture of Peru. Very clean and pretty, all made of rocks. The local people really enjoy using their parks.
This park was designed by a Spanish architect in the style of Gaudi, and built in 1992 at a low spot in city life after the civil war. Huancayo was on the font –line of the fight against the “shining Path” movement and suffered greatly in those years – there certainly was no tourism till this century. The park is clean and surprisingly well maintained. Certainly worth a visit. For an English speaker there were plenty of titters about the name of the local people – Wanka. There were even Wanka taxis!
This is advertised as one of the highlights of Huancayo. It is a very sad reflection of what a real park could/should be. Like Huancayo it is extremely dull.
We actually read the descriptions of who the statues were this time. They are famous Peruvian artists of poetry, music, and paintings. The natural wood bridges could be dangerous for little ones and older folk. The cleanest place In Huancayo. Nice to visit in day or night.
If you are not from the city you will see canals, statues, and portal with characteristics of the region. The statues are representative people of the region. At a glance you, you may think it is a Spanish square...it is because its designed were influenced by a Spanish architect
So beatiful in an almost weird way. Reminded me of Park Guell in Barcelona. Real world class in Huancayo.
I have to look into the Wanka culture
