I am amazed at the photos shown on this site as our room couldn't have been further from the standard seen in those pictures.
We arrived Monday evening and checked in, we went to our room and were extremely disappointed to see the state of it. Although clean it was far from a £95 per night standard!
There was water damage in the top corner of the room with paper hanging off near the ceiling, part of the cornice missing, there were paint flakes all over the dressing table presumably from the ceiling, the halogen lights above the bed didn't work and there was only one bedside light which was not very useful for the person on the other side of the bed wanting to read. The doorway strip between the room and the corridor was stuck down with silver duct tape as the carpet was worn but it had partly come away. The bathroom suite was very dated, the hot water tap on the sink had the top missing , the tiles had been painted over but part of the paint above the sink had peeled off.
We spoke to a very helpful young man at reception expressing our disappointment but were told the hotel was full and they couldn't move us. Eventually we spoke to the Manager who told us that there was nothing he could do about it. As we were booked to stay 3 nights we asked what our charge would be if we checked out straight away, the Manager said that he would have to pay commission on our room to the booking agent so it would cost us the price for the night plus £50, our total cost £145..and that would be the same if we checked out the next morning.

The next morning at breakfast we decided to check out and find somewhere else.

I am staggered that they can charge so much for a room that clearly needs a lot of work on it!
The hotel is situated in a fantastic spot overlooking the bay it is such a shame that the general appearance of the public areas and certainly our room are not brought up to it's full potential.

If youre looking for 5 star facilities this wont be for you. No pool....no spa....no fancy restaurant..does what it requires to for the 2 stars it has but as a bonus the breakfasts(included in the price) are superb. The beds are comfortable with crisp linen and soft towels. Bathrooms are a bit dated but serviceable and the staff are great. Altogether we thought our stay for 6 nights was great value for money.

All the staff excellent. The food both at breakfast and in the restaurant very good. Room ok but found facilities not to my taste. Bed very narrow TV archaic without remote or freeview!! Prefer walk in shower and hate shower over baths. In future will find a room with a seaview.

The staff at this hotel are amazing and will do anything for you.
The hotel is clean but needs a lot of work doing to it. Mouldy walls, leaky ceilings and very dated decor. The beds are very uncomfortable, the pillows were well passed their sell by date and the furniture faded from the sun. The windows have blown so condensation has built up inside the the two panes and unable to leave the windows open safely. The bathroom floor was very uneven, the bath needs resealing due to mould and the shower screen has been stuck down so unable to move it to turn the tap on the shower to reach temperature before you get in.
No smoke detectors??
Unfortunately we were kept awake till very late and woken up early hours by the local youths shouting and fighting and a couple of them using skateboards along the road from in front of the train station to the hotel entrance and the noise just bounced off the shop fronts, using the kerb for tricks.
Only ate in the hotel one evening, breakfast was good but stuck to cooked due to the flies and milk and juice being sat on a table not chilled or covered. The wooden bread bin holding the bread had splinters hanging from it.
Port Erin its self is beautiful.

Travelling over to the island for the Southern 100 the Falcons Nest is an ideal base for the racing at Castletown. We have been coming to the hotel for a few years now and we are never disappointed with the place as it is what it says a hotel with comfortable beds, great breakfasts and a superb restaurant catering for all tastes. The staff are friendly and go beyond the call of duty at times. The bar is comfortable and serves a variety of beers along with the usual drinks.

There is a free car park/motorcycle park and they also provide residents with a disc for on the roadside free parking for an hour and a half.

We are that happy with the hotel we have already booked for 2018 - that says it all really

Room Tip: Some rooms offer great sea views over Port Erin bay
