The sushi lives up the hype, and the rest of the menu is also superb. Worth making a reservation if you’re on Sao Miguel Island.

We did not stay in the hotel (but will next time), but we used the beach area, had surf lessons with the local shop and had an amazing dinner at the restaurant. We ordered sushi, rich fish soup, fish stew and steak with eggs. Great Alvarinho and non-alcoholic drinks for the kids. Wonderful sunset.

This restaurant really did disappoint. This was our last night of 10 days of Portuguese travel and was the least authentic. The “sushi” felt forced. No explanation of the fish we were eating simply said by waitress, you get three types of fish. There is no fish selection on menu just a “sashimi 12 piece” Turns out not even Azores local fish, salmon is not from these islands. The fish was not fresh and covered in lemon to mask the odor. I ordered a miso to start the meal, when it was served the cap was stuck on the bowl. I spilt it on myself opening the dish and had to run to the restroom to clean up. When I returned the staff did not offer any help to clean the table nor replace my napkin or silverware, was rather rude for a fine dining location. Cherry on top of the meal was the “ramen” served with cheese and spaghetti..... no really not sure what they were trying to do. Save some money and enjoy true local cuzine at somewhere like Bar Caloura where you will be shown your exact fish before the simply cook and serve an excellent meal for less than a third the cost of this place.

Everything about this place is 5 star. Tuna dish was amazing, chicken was great, sushi was very fresh. Nothing but great things about this place .

With a breathtaking view to the sea, this is a classy, fair size restaurant that caters for a lot of types of food but, the Sushi is superb and extremely well made.
Maybe a little pricey but well worth a visit by those who appreciate Japanese food.
Drink selection is more than adequate.
