Description: In 1979, Carlos Tavares Silva, owner of Current Restaurant The SILVA opened a brewery space serving drinks and snacks on the ground floor and meals on the 1st floor. It was later attached a contiguous land, sealed the slabs and covered with criptoméria foliage, which was very pleasant to taste the dishes that made the Ribeira Grande famous: barnacles, limpets, chips and other seafood, stew or roast octopus, the birds at the time so appreciated, the chicharrinhos villain sauce, greaves of wine and garlic, among other delicacies of regional nature. Restaurant The SILVA stands out for its strong regional-oriented cuisine and seafood and fresh fish. Moreover, the vast majority of the vegetables consumed in the restaurant come from own production as well as some derivatives of animal origin (pork, sausages, black pudding). With the growth and sophistication of the clientele, the resort has been renovated and modernized in order to respect the meantime legislated taxes, and then born the current restaurant "The SILVA", which includes a brewery room (capacity 40 people) a room intended for daily meals (capacity 120 people), another smaller, more reserved (capacity 40 people) and on the 1st floor a room for parties (capacity 150 people). The establishment employs about 15 people spread between the kitchen, table / bar and cleaning. More recently, in 2013, it implemented an energy efficiency system with photovoltaic panels that reduce the ecological footprint and consequently energy expenditure.

Walking distance from our villa. Nice selection and fair prices. Nice ambiance. Enjoyed the large plate of cod. (they have 1/2 portions also.)

Came here with a group of friends and it did not disappoint at all. Service was attentive and extremely friendly - if you can, look for our waiter Jose Raposo! He was funny and friendly and made us feel right at home. Food came out quickly and was delicious. I had the chorizo on fire which was a great spectacle, as well as the steak in the "regional" sauce. I would recommend both.

Food and service outstanding. Very fresh and tasty flavours on each of our plates. I had the bean stew which arrived in its own pot with rice - I had to take some home, there was so much. Chorizo on fire was fun and had just enough char flavour. The regional nice was very tender and delicious. The sides were just as tasty as the mains, which to me, is a true sign that the kitchen knows what they are doing, rather than throwing overcooked frozen vegetables on the plate as a lazy attempt at a balanced meal (a la Restaurante da Associacao Agricola de Sao Miguel). Our server did not speak English but we managed very well (thanks Google Translate) but his young co-worker spoke excellent English and our overall experience was of the utmost professionalism, kindness and fun. Very affordable for the quality of dining. Highly recommend.

We went here at 2 pm on a weekday in the off season on a weekday and the place was packed. However the restaurant is also large, so we were able to get a table immediately.

The menu is extensive and mainly focuses on fish and sea food, however there are also a number of meat options including steaks etc.

We had the the local cheese, bread and a daily soup each as appetizers. As mains we enjoyed a vegetable stew and the chicken stroganoff. All dishes were excellent and the portions more than generous.

All together we paid something around 33€ which was absolutely fair.

My wife and I really enjoyed this restaurant. It has quite a selection on the menu. There are fresh lobster in the tank as you walk in the door. there are many varieties of fish that I had never heard of. The weight staff was very accommodating. The prices were very reasonable. They have a huge bar. They have at least two large spring TVs for soccer, football! It's well worth driving to. You won't be disappointed!
